Marc Lowrance mentions on commentary that there are rumors going around that P.Y. Chu-Hi might not really be Asian. (*gasp!*) This was a ton of fun. Lots of great comedy shtick in the first half of the match as Embry wants to fight Chu-Hi and Adams wants to fight Young, but not vice-versa, so whenever Embry tags in, Chu-Hi tags out, so Adams tags in, but then Young tags out, so Embry tags in....Once they finally get started, they dominate the heels until the ref gets distracted and they hit Embry's injured knee with the kendo stick. Embry milks the FIP section for all it's worth, with several near tags, multiple distractions that put Adams out of position, a false tag, and Tojo Yamamoto spending most of the match incoherently yelling on the house mic. Adams' hot tag is huge, as Young is trying to stop Embry from getting it, but when Adams gets in, he can only manage to beg off for a moment before eating a superkick. The babyface comeback for the finish feels a little short given how long the match built, but this is still an easy nomination.

Eric Embry & Chris Adams vs. P.Y. Chu-Hi & Gary Young USWA Texas 9/89-10/89 #1

- Embry and Chu-Hi go at eash other right away and I hope this has some hate. I also like Young more in tags than singles so I expect some solid wrestling. Young is used as a punching bag early on and has to rethink his game plan. Adams is on fire early on hitting an enziguiri on Young and superkick on PY. So Embry comes in and punches thte hell out of PY. The faces make PY your Heel in Peril and hook on some chinlocks that kill the momentum of the match. It wouldn’t be so bad if PY actually worked out of the holds. It picks up again as Young tries to make the save but hits PY instead. Commercial and Young hit a Jumbo knee to take control. Embry is your FIP and the heels attack the leg and chop him down. Really hot FIP section with the heels trying to put Embry away after PY hits a DDT and smacks him over the head with the stick. Embry is getting his ass kicked but hits the Wrestling II knee to get the hot tag. Big ending with Adams rolling through a powerslam to get the pin. Best tag I have seen today and a Definite Nomination in my mind.

"Gentleman" Chris Adams & "Flamboyant" Eric Embry vs. PY Chu-Hi & "Gorgeous" Gary Young (8/11/89)

This was lots of fun as you had a very hot crowd and some fired up babyfaces against two heels who were great as bumbling & violent heels at the same time. Tojo grabbing Lowrance's TV mic trying to hype up PY thinking it was the house mic was great. Embry worked as FIP with the heels working on his bad left knee vigorously as Tojo finally found the house mic shouting out instructions and this was damn good stuff. There was a great false tag with the crowd going nuts as Embry was getting his ass kicked before he nailed PY with a high kneelift to set up the hot tag. Adams came in blazing and would get a quick pin after rolling over on a Young powerslam. This was a tremendous match and a definite nomination.
