Surprisingly (and unfortunately) restrained performance from Embry, but Dundee and the heels came up big here. Great big bumping performance from the Devastation Inc. crew as Dundee knocks them around the ring before they take over and Dundee plays FIP. Embry gets the hot tag, but Skandor Akbar tosses in the coal miner's glove. Dundee intercepts it, but Young tackles him into Bronko Lubich, and then Travis clocks Dundee with his new guitar, letting him score the pin. Nomination.

Eric Embry & Bill Dundee vs. Gary Young & Billy Joe Travis USWA Texas 11/89-12/89 #1

- Early on. The faces clear the ring and the heels threaten to walk out. Dundee greets them on their way back and Young-Dundee battle outside with Embry-Travis inside. The story has the heels getting thrown out of the ring with regularity. Hmmm, did Travis crotch himself? However, Dundee ends up getting hurt on a spill out of the ring and is your FIP and it rules with Young and Travis cutting off the ring. Travis as a heel is like the class clown but it works. Embry cleans house and a brawl breaks out. Dundee grabs a coal miner’s glove, the ref gets knocked out and a fight for the glove ensues. Embry gets it but gets leveled with a guitar shot. The ending was pretty wild and I enjoyed the hell out of this tag. Easy nomination.

Billy Joe Travis & "Gorgeous" Gary Young vs. "Superstar" Bill Dundee & "Flamboyant" Eric Embry (11/3/89)

 

There is lots of hatred flying around here as they brawl in and out of the ring before the bell even rings as the faces chase the heels up the ramp before cooler heads prevailed. The match started with the heels pinballing and selling all over the place especially Travis who was awesome here. Dundee is on fire here throwing awesome punches and with opponents that were perfect for him. Dundee worked FIP and the heels were awesome this time on offense including Billy Joe doing the KO punch and setting on the opponent spot that Ronnie Garvin used. Dundee was beaten on for quite a while here before finally getting the hot tag to Embry who cleaned house before the 4-way brawl would start. Akbar would throw a coal miners glove in the ring that Embry ends up getting but Travis nukes him with his guitar for the win. This was great stuff and a definite nomination.
