Jeff Jarrett & Matt Borne vs. Gary Young & Billy Joe Travis (Texas Tag Title Tournament Semifinal Match)

Jarrett and Borne are a great team, but we've really only seen them against crappy teams or teams with one good wrestler and Sheikh Braddock. I think this is my first real chance to see them against another actual good tag team, and for the most part, it doesn't disappoint. Both teams do what they do best, as Jarrett and Borne bring the big offense when they're in control and Borne makes a fine FIP, while the heels stooge around really well but crank up the viciousness when they take control. The match has a terrible finish, as Jarrett gets tripped by Akbar while Tony Falk isn't looking, and then gets DQ'd for assaulting Akbar (?!), but then Dustin Rhodes comes out to tell Falk that Akbar tripped Jarrett, and Falk just sorta takes his word for it and reverses the decision. Stupid finish to a great match...I'm calling it a nomination, as what it did well, it did really well.

Jeff Jarrett & Matt Borne vs. Gary Young & Billy Joe Travis (Texas Tag Title Tournament Semifinal Match) USWA Texas 11/89-12/89 #2

- Young was really good at being the punching bag for the faces. When Travis is outside regrouping, he shows off a chain he has hiding in his trunks. Borne gets worked over and he is your FIP. I don’t buy Borne as your FIP and the heel offense isn’t really lighting my world on fire. IN the end, Jarrett goes after Akbar and chokes him outside. However, he ends up losing the match in a countout and that decision is reversed. Bleh. I thought the match was ok but Borne and Jarrett aren't nearly as interesting as Adams & Embry. I already mentioned the Borne as FIP mistake and with the stupid finish, no vote.

USWA Tag Titles Tournament - Semifinals: "Maniac" Matt Borne & Jeff Jarrett vs. Billy Joe Travis & "Gorgeous" Gary Young (12/1/89)

This started out good with Jarrett & Travis working good against each other and I loved Borne's German Suplex hold on Young who was fun here taking punishment. Borne would eventually play FIP and the heels work him over especially Travis with his great punches. Jarrett would get the hot tag and the 4-way brawl was on until Akbar tripped Jarrett forcing him to attack him on the floor. Jarrett would get counted out very quickly by Tony Falk I must say then the faces complain to Tony about Akbar tripping him so he just reverses the decision. This was a fun match but that finish was pretty bad and kills a chance at a nomination.
