Posted April 17, 201015 yr comment_5449625 Atlantis vs. Emilio Charles Jr. - NWA Middleweight Title Match I don't think this is from 1984 like Fredo listed it. I appears to be 8/12/88 which is when luchawiki lists Emilio winning the middleweight title from Atlantis in Mexico City. Great match and definite set selection. I loved Emilio's running Fujiwara armbars, and Atlantis's armdrags, and the match had an awesome big match finish. Should finish strongly. Blackman/Kung Fu/Kato Kung Lee vs. Talisman/El Enfermero Jr./Jerry Estrada Match was too dark to watch Sangre Chicana/Mocho Cota/La Fiera vs. Mascara Ano 2000/Mano Negra/Ringo Mendoza-1984 Perfectly acceptable wrestling by four of the six guys in this match, but the awesomeness of Ringo Mendoza v. Sangre Chicana puts it over the top. They were paired off most of the match and the brawling was awesome looking. Some of the best punch exchanges on the set, Chicana feels like the guy who is going to get the biggest reputation bounce out of this set. Nomination, although this was pretty dark too. Sangre Chicana vs. Villano III Really great match, with Sangre Chicana again being absolutely king sized, brawling, bleeding and winning with a great tope. Totally intense and something I could see finishing high. It is very, very dark though, with parts of the match hard to see. I wonder if there is anyway we could lighten the video somehow. Chamaco Valaguez/Javier Cruz/Rokambole vs. Pirata Morgan/Jerry Estrada/Hombre Bala For some reason we only get the last two falls, and while the Piratas were in rare form running through their classic shtick, it wasn't special enough to overlook the missing fall. Atlantis vs. El Satanico Not an absolute classic, but this was a long bloody singles match between two of the greatest of all time, so is certainly good enough to make a set. Satanico is truly amazing in this. Atlantis has a more under the radar performance, which keeps this out of top 10 placement, but any chance we get to see Satanico work a singles match we will take

Easy nomination. Sangre Chicana/Mocho Cota/La Fiera vs. Mascara Ano 2000/Mano Negra/Ringo Mendoza-, 1984 I loved Mocho Cota's hat. This was a really good match, but I don't think there's anything about it that I liked more than Mocho Cota's hat, which leads me to think I should vote "no" on it. Atlantis vs. El Satanico Satanico may have been the best wrestler in the world in 1984, and Atlantis was pretty high up the list, too, so unsurprising that they turned out a great match here. I don't know if Atlantis' performance was under the radar so much as Satanico was just so damned good that he couldn't be overshadowed. Easy nomination.
October 23, 201113 yr Author comment_5486509 Alfredo updated the VQ on this disc so I rewatched some of these matches now that I can see them better. Blackman/Kung Fu/Kato Kung Lee vs. Talisman/El Enfermero Jr./Jerry Estrada Too much generic rudo beatdown, and not enough shtick from the technicos. Had some nice moments but basically forgettable. Sangre Chicana/Mocho Cota/La Fiera vs. Mascara Ano 2000/Mano Negra/Ringo Mendoza-1984 I liked this still, but on rewatch the Chicana v. Ringo stuff didn't pop as much as did before. If SLL is giving it a No. I am not fighting for it. Sangre Chicana vs. Villano III SLL is nuts here though, this is an awesome match and I am really happy we have a good VQ quality version of it. Nasty blood spraying brawl with Chicana taking a huge asskicking and hitting the great tope for the flash win. I liked the double DQ third fall finish. This had the sick violent feel of a match which almost had to end like that. I totally could see Chicana wanting to rip V3s mask off, and totally bought V3 responding with a kick to the nuts. This is making a set for sure.
