I enjoyed this way more than expected for an '89 Bulldogs match. I actually liked Dynamite as a broken down, pissy old Brit who still wanted to brawl with guys 100 pounds heavier than him. And Davey kicked in some good looking power stuff. But mostly, this was a master class in bumping and selling by Terry Gordy. No one could have made the Bulldogs look better at this point. This wasn't great or anything, but I enjoyed it enough that I'd like Eric to take a look.

Stan Hansen & Terry Gordy vs. Dynamite Kid & Davey Boy Smith (6/5/89)

- It’s so sad watching DK in this knowing how torn up he was but damn, Terry Gordy kept feeding him and bumping for him and getting the crowd into the match. God Bless Terry Gordy. At this point, Davey was gassed to the point where he looked like he was big enough to be in the same ring as Terry and Stan. The match itself is a credit to Terry Gordy and how great he was. I don’t think it is strong enough for a nomination but it is the perfect preview o why Gordy will eventually be the MVP of the World Class set. He gives so much to opponent’s who don’t deserve to hold his jock and the matches are much better as a result.

The British Bulldogs (Dynamite Kid & Davey Boy Smith) vs. Terry "Bamm Bamm" Gordy & Stan "The Lariat" Hansen (6/5/89)

 

The crowd at Budokan is again apeshit for this one especially for DK as his exchange with Gordy to start the match was electrifying especially their reaction to his snap suplex. DBS would come in and take the majority of the match even hitting a very impressive press slam on Gordy which made the crowd lose their shit. What made this match so fun to me was the fans were so emotionally invested in DK and the fact that Gordy was on his a-game in bumping and selling made it more awesome. Hansen & DBS were solid as well and the finish was sorta anti-climatic but like I said this was all about DK & Gordy and this is a fairly easy nomination to me.
