Simple plan of both guys trying to climb the pole for the glove and getting cut off. Curt gets bloodies up on the outside. These guys are really just punching the shit out of each other. No real match besides that except the attempts to grab the glove. Hennig grabs the glove, swings, misses, gets caught in an atomic drop and does a fruity bump. He eventually knocks Assassin out with the glove. That Hennig bump really kind of bothered me. The rest of the match was fun enough even though there wasn’t much substance. Nomination because I had fun watching it but not because it is a good match. LYNCH VOL. 9
March 30, 201114 yr comment_5468629 God damn Hennig really did have great, great punches and Assassin's full body selling of each shot only adds to them. Love the Assassin's desperate single leg to stop Hennig from climbing the pole. They spill to the floor and shit gets nasty with Hennig bleeding off of a post shot. Curt comes up from a double knockdown spot and drags the Assassin down by biting his face. I really like how they end up in the corner with the pole brawling and taking turns trying to get in a dominant position, rather than doing excessive pole climbing attempts. Assassin gets to the glove first but gets caught up top. Hennig over bumps on an atomic drop which is the low point of the match but the final shot with the glove looked epic and even with this being very brief I see this as a pretty solid nomination.
May 12, 201114 yr comment_5471077 My thoughts were very similar to both of yours. Henning's punches looked great and I liked the fights for position in the corners. The atomic drop bump bugged me but not enough to sour me on a nasty, well-worked gimmick fight. Thumbs up for me.
