Zenk actually looked really crisp and athletic in the first few minutes. Fine match overall but nothing we'd consider for the set. (taped 6.5.89) 2 - Mitsuo Momota vs. Isamu Teranishi (PWF Jr. Title) - They spent too much time sitting in holds and got a bit sloppy when they picked up the pace. I've always appreciated Teranishi's rough style, but Momota did little for me. No vote. (taped 7.16.89) 3 - Shoehi Baba/Rusher Kimura/John Tenta vs. Jumbo Tsuruta/Kabuki/Masa Fuchi - This plodded on and on with the old guys looking badly over the hill. I liked the very end, when Jumbo took out Tenta only for Fuchi to sprint face first into Baba's boot. But watching this felt like a chore overall.
September 16, 201015 yr comment_5455798 The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) vs. "Jumpin" Jim Brunzell & Tom Zenk (7/11/89) Brunzell & Zenk is a team that I'm surprised the AWA didn't run with in 1989. This was a good match but had almost no crowd heat and not a nomination. AJPW World Jr. Heavyweight Title: Mitsuo Momota © vs. Isamu Teranishi (6/5/89) Now we have the older guard of the Jr. division going at it and I love that Mitsuo's brother the retired Yoshihiro Momota is in his corner acting as his manager. This is a slow match though with not a whole lot going on until the end where Momota got a cradle cutback to get the win. Budokan was upset at this thinking Teranishi got his shoulder up but the decision was final. Giant Baba, Rusher Kimura, & John Tenta vs. Masa Fuchi, The Great Kabuki, & Jumbo Tsuruta (7/16/89) Always fun watching Fuchi team up with his idol Jumbo. Tenta is getting huge here and ready to become Earthquake. Korakuen loved this of course but the match wasn't very good although it had some fun spots.
