June 15, 201411 yr comment_5607335 Every interview I hear and article I read involving Russo, he never says sports entertainment or sports entertainers. Always wrestling and wrestlers. It's creeping me out.
June 16, 201411 yr comment_5607474 "Word of advice--If wrestling books are written by the WRESTLERS---don't believe a word in them!" fixed
June 17, 201411 yr comment_5607927 I was excited for the Stardust talk because I had no idea what pop reference they'd get. if any. Bryan went for NES' Pro Wrestling Starman and then Dave said NO NO NO, it's Dusty Rhodes' nickname Stardust. Bryan made sure to point out that he had gloves like AJ Styles. No mention of Bowie. No mention of A Clockwork Orange. No thought that this will lead to a split.
June 17, 201411 yr comment_5608031 If we get one Stardust promo with Cody encouraging Goldust to indulge in some of the old ultraviolence, I'll never say a bad word about any other angle for years.
June 17, 201411 yr comment_5608058 His new theme definitely had some Aladdin Sane-style piano on it, regarding a Bowie reference.
June 17, 201411 yr comment_5608116 "We haven't even talked about the kitty litter and milk segment". It's come to this.
June 18, 201411 yr comment_5608687 Someone tell me about Meltzer's big 4th of July party and Lilian Garcia concert?
June 18, 201411 yr comment_5608694 July 4th is the big F4W convention at the UFC show. Liillian does some show in Vegas every Saturday night.
June 21, 201411 yr comment_5608910 I think poor Dave is overworked: It only takes a second to proofread a tweet but it seems everyone is in a hurry to get it out there.
June 22, 201411 yr comment_5608974 Meltzer: --It was seven years ago today that Nancy Benoit was killed, likely by husband Chris. Nancy was known in wrestling as The Fallen Angel and later as Woman in Florida, WCW and ECW. likely? There's not any real doubt that he killed her.
June 22, 201411 yr comment_5608975 Seven years already. Times flies. I can still remember the hours spent on my laptot following the developments in disbelief. And yeah, the "likely" is sounds awkward to say the least.
June 22, 201411 yr comment_5608977 That's a palm-to-the-face slip from Meltz. "Likely"? Did he follow-it up about the 20th anniversary of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman's deaths "likely" at the hands of OJ Simpson? Or that the sky is "likely" blue? That quote has me legit laughing.
June 22, 201411 yr comment_5608980 To be fair, it could be that Meltzer is trying to avoid libel, if in fact no court of law ever actually said Benoit was the killer.
June 22, 201411 yr comment_5608982 That sounded bad. Maybe someone sent that in for Meltzer, and he just copied and pasted it?
June 22, 201411 yr comment_5608985 The Benoits, who believe he did it, are going to sue Meltzer? Hey man, I'm just saying that in today's society it's always wise to cover all your bases, and maybe that's why he tossed the likely in there. It also may be a stupid mistake, or just him not using his words wisely.
June 22, 201411 yr comment_5608989 I read the likely as speaking to the date. Because everyone was AWOL all weekend I thought it was not conclusive on what particular date each crime was committed.
June 22, 201411 yr comment_5608990 To be fair, Meltzer has never been a great writer. Great reporter, yes. Great writer, no.
June 22, 201411 yr comment_5608991 You cannot slander or libel the dead. There is absolutely no need for any "likely" or "allegedly" qualifier, at all.
June 23, 201411 yr comment_5608999 You cannot slander or libel the dead. There is absolutely no need for any "likely" or "allegedly" qualifier, at all. That depends on the state/nation, as some states and countries do allow lawsuits on behalf of the estate of the deceased in cases of libel/slander.
June 23, 201411 yr comment_5609003 Maybe he just didn't want the emails from the crazies if he didn't put it?
June 23, 201411 yr Author comment_5609006 Not speaking the truth for fear of the reaction would be a poor reflection on Dave's integrity and I'm not willing to go that far. He definitely deserves criticism, but I would suspect he said it without putting much thought into it. He has a tendency to do this lately, like when he said both sides had valid points and probably felt they were right when asked about Montreal on the Steve Austin Show, completely contradicting years of his own reporting on that topic.
June 23, 201411 yr comment_5609044 To be fair, Meltzer has never been a great writer. Great reporter, yes. Great writer, no. Yeah, that genuinely could just be a pure syntax screw-up. I doubt that it is, but it wouldn't be a big surprise, You don't go to Dave for the prose.
June 23, 201411 yr comment_5609056 The best way around that is not to even mention the circumstances of her death but just mention the tragedy itself.
