Posted May 14, 201015 yr comment_5450836 (taped 1.25.89) 1 - Joe Malenko vs. Mighty Inoue (PWF Jr. Title) - I have two main complaints about these matwork-heavy juniors matches: 1) Unlike the UWF guys, they never established submissions as viable finishes, so the segments lacked urgency. 2) The fans and workers (even Malenko) treated mat sections as compulsories that had to be endured before some trading of suplexes and roll-up attempts. This match embodied those complaints perfectly so I say fuck it. (taped 3.8.89) 2 - Ricky Fuyuki/Toshiaki Kawada vs. Johnny Ace/The Terminator - This never went beyond guys trading random offense. Ace came off really green. (taped 2.2.89 Kansas City, MO) 3 - Stan Hansen/Terry Gordy vs. Jumbo Tsuruta/Yoshiaki Yatsu (PWF Tag Title) - AWA match.
September 16, 201015 yr comment_5455742 PWF Jr. Heavyweight Title: Joe Malenko © vs. Mighty Inoue (1/25/89) This was another one of those slow matches with good matwork with a nice stretch run but the overall match was nothing spectacular. Not a nomination. Footloose (Ricky Fuyuki & Toshiaki Kawada) vs. Johnny Ace & The Terminator (3/8/89) Ace makes his AJ Classics debut and both of Road Warrior Animal's brothers look green here. Gordy/Hansen vs. Jumbo/Yatsu is a US match.
