But I'm still struggling to remember anything cool about it. (taped 3.26.89) 5 - Abdullah the Butcher/Tiger Jeet Singh vs. Hiroshi Wajima/Isao Takagi - Pointless brawling. (taped 1.2.89) 6 - Battle Royal - These year-opening battle royals were never any good. (taped 3.25.89) 7 - Jumbo Tsuruta/Yoshiaki Yatsu vs. Stan Hansen/Terry Gordy (PWF Tag Title) - Hansen and Gordy controlled the first half, working on Yatsu's leg and Jumbo's lower back. Yatsu turned the tide with leg kicks on Hansen, and he and Jumbo spent some time working on Stan's knee. It all came off too subdued. They finally got to brawling outside only for Yatsu to duck in for the countout win. Incredibly unremarkable match considering the talent involved.
September 16, 201015 yr comment_5455744 PWF Jr. Heavyweight Title: Mighty Inoue © vs. Shinichi Nakano (2/23/89) This is another of the AJPW Jr. matches from this period that had some good stuff in it but it was unspectacular. Isao Takagi & Hiroshi Wajima vs. Abdullah the Butcher & Tiger Jeet Singh (3/26/89) Yeesh. Heavyweight Battle Royal (1/2/88) I'm shocked the battle royal actually made Classics but we get an appearance by BUDDY LANDELL!!!!!!!!!!! PWF Tag Titles: Jumbo Tsuruta & Yoshiaki Yatsu © vs. Terry "Bamm Bamm" Gordy & Stan "The Lariat" Hansen (3/25/89) This started out as a wild brawl with the gaijin dominating of course then going back to the ring where they would take control there working over Yatsu's left leg which was smart to neutralize the Prison Lock. Jumbo would come in and they would work over his lower back which neutralized his suplexes in another smart move. Good psychology used by the gaijin before the natives would turn the tables by working over Hansen's right leg setting up for the Prison Lock but Gordy would come in to break that up. This would soon break out into a 4-way brawl with everyone going to the floor and Yatsu sneaking in to win by countout. Yet another subpar match from these teams.
