The Rock

I thought Rock was better on the mic, though were both were about even as far as getting good matches out of total stiffs. Pure working ability, Savage may edge Rock out, but I thought Rock was fare energetic as far as getting the crowd going crazy for the smallest of things.

The Rock

Rock drew better and had better promos.

Savage suffered from a severe depush after Wrestlemania 5 and was retired twice because Vince saw him as over-the-hill. If he hadn't become a complete joke between Wrestlemania 5 and Wrestlemania 7, it would be a lot closer.

Randy Savage

I'll let GH do a detailed explanation, but Savage had better matches than Rock did and could play both face and heel better. Savage's time on top of the promotion is very underrated, as he had a nice run with DiBiase, plus his initial WWF championship wasn't in the original plans, and it worked out for a year. I think, in comparison, Rock's time on top had always been in the company's plans at some point. I often wonder: If Honky hadn't refused to drop the IC title, how much longer would Savage had been a midcarder?

Randy Savage

Rock was the bigger star and Rock had the bigger impact, but Savage got so much out of Hogan and Warrior that I have to give him credit. Yeah, he was part of a well-oiled machine and was never the crucial cog in the wheel to keep it going, but Savage consistently drew when he was put in a position to draw, excelled in whatever role the company decided to have him play, and I honestly believe that had he gone with Crockett instead of Vince in 1985 for some reason, the war would have been much more competitive, although admittedly, I don't Crockett would have had a clue how to market someone like Randy Savage to his full ability to get the most out of him. He didn't even know how to do it with Ric Flair.
