There was something inherently cool about watching Tenryu come out to "Iron Man" with Animal and Hawk. The match didn't have a lot of grace or flow but the crowd helped give it the feel of a big spectacle. Tenryu took a hell of a lot of punishment and his effort really made the match. Jumbo directed his trio into some nifty triple-knee drives. Takano hit some sick offense on Tenryu. The only one who didn't look good was Hawk. I'm amazed people saw so much star potential in that guy. Outside of his flying clotheslines and double team moves, he always came off as such a stiff. Anyway, this kept me entertained for 20 minutes and added another chapter to the Jumbo/Tenryu rivalry, so I'll give it a nomination.

Road Warriors & Genichiro Tenryu vs Jumbo Tsuruta, Yoshiaki Yatsu & Shunji Takano, AJ TV 3/12/89 (TV6)

- Right off the bat, I was enjoying the interaction between Animal and Jumbo. Animal press alms Jumbo and he responds with a lariat that takes Animal off his feet and causes him to tag in Hawk. I wasn’t really feeling Takano’s stuff early on. He looked really tentative and loose. He looked too eager to get chopped by Tenryu and the setup for Hawk’s missile dropkick was strange as Tenryu barely hald him while he stayed motionless awaiting the blow. The crowd is hot for the match though. Really neat spot where Jumbo’s team all give Tenryu a jumping knee at the same time. Ugh, Hawk and Tenryu try a double clothesline and Tenryu completely misses. This is a match I had fun watching but there were some botches, some mistimed spots, no real story unlike some of the best 6-man tags that will appear on the set. No vote. Roadies win with the Device.

The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) & Genichiro Tenryu vs. Shunji Takano, Jumbo Tsuruta, & Yoshiaki Yatsu (3/8/89)

Takano gets to hang with the big boys here but his appearance totally screams jobber. Budokan is molten for this one that's for sure and they go apeshit when Animal press slams Jumbo over his head. This was great fun and one of my favorite Roadies matches I've seen so far because the rivalry between everyone else was so strong that they were a great addition to the feud with hard hitting offense and intensity. Tenryu got his ass kicked here and everyone was teeing off on him especially Takano who was relishing the chance to give payback to Tenryu for the whippings of the past. Budokan booing Jumbo as he works over his opponents was great and they were in general throughout this whole match giving it a great atmosphere. I really dug this match and I'm with Childs here in that this is a nomination.
