Posted May 28, 201015 yr comment_5451374 Rocco Valiente v. El Pegasso Una Caida match which was perfectly fine stuff, I liked Valiente cutting off a Pegasso tope with a right hand. Nothing that would make a set, but lucha rules. El Tauro Jr./Super Gallo vs. El Mestizo/Zorro De Oro Fun stuff, four luchadores I have never heard of having a solid lucha match, we get a little matwork, a little brawling, some shtick and a dive or two. Stuff looked kind of awkward and it wasn't a great match, but I am sure El Mestizo has had a classic hair match in some dirty little arena somewhere. Comando Russo/Sancara/El Panico vs. Las Estrellas Blancas I, III y Jr. This is a show full of guys I have never heard of, with Panico being the only guy in this match I am familiar with. Las Estrallas Blancas have a bunch of nifty signature spots, including a real amusing comedy spot where they run with the guy running the ropes to confuse him, they also bump really well to the floor. This was kind of on its way to a nomination, but it just kind of peters out with no real third act. Americo Rocca/Mogur/Mascara Sagrada vs. MS1/Jaque Mate/Blue Panther Match opens with some pretty sweet matwork between Panther and Rocca and a nice Mogur v. MS1 section, first fall ends with an insane Panther pedigree looking thing. Really good first fall, unfortunately the second and third falls meander a bit and the match falls below the cut Perro Aguayo/El Satanico/Ringo Mendoza vs. Pirata Morgan/Herodes/El Hijo Del Gladiador This has some pretty great brawlers, brawling, but this feels houseshowey, nothing really kicks it into the next level outside of a couple of Satanico v. Pirata exchanes, kind of like this whole show, entertaining but nothing which stands among the decades best.
June 1, 201213 yr comment_5504967 Rocco Valiente v. El Pegasso Perfectly entertaining, if inconsequential, lucha. El Tauro Jr./Super Gallo vs. El Mestizo/Zorro De Oro For a match that I had literally no expectations for beforehand, this turned out ridiculously fun. Agreed there is some awkward looking stuff like Gallo blowing the up-and-over corner escape spot (do we have a name for that? We probably should) and Mestizo throwing one of the worst missed clotheslines I've ever seen. But there was a ton of really cool stuff in this match that made it stand out from everything else I've seen. I was predisposed to liking Zorro de Oro just because his rhyming name amused me, but he looked like I guy should not just have heard about now. He was a really good cowardly stooge heel here. Really got into his early stalling attempts and his reactions to the crowd, and he works all sorts of fun heel shtick into the match. He really lays it in when he's brawling, too. The whole finishing sequence of the first fall was great, with Zorro hammering Tauro in the corner, and then Mestizo comes up behind him, and Zorro just instinctively slugs him before he realizes who it is. Then Mestizo unwittingly back body drops Gallo into Zorro, and the whole bit just looked awesome. Mestizo was very solid and played off of everyone well. Gallo was a fun, energetic, eager technico, and made a good foil for the rudos. Tauro had some nifty spots, and I dug him vaulting off of Gallo's back to take out Zorro near the end. I don't know if it's quite good enough for me to blow a personal pick on, but it feels too good to not be nominated. Comando Russo/Sancara/El Panico vs. Las Estrellas Blancas I, III y Jr. This also had legit hidden gem potential, but there is a really weird edit at the end that cuts from Eltrellas Blancas starting to make a comeback straight to the rudos scoring the win, and it really kills the match as a nomination. Americo Rocca/Mogur/Mascara Sagrada vs. MS1/Jaque Mate/Blue Panther Lots of cool stuff in that first fall, but really goes nowhere from there. Perro Aguayo/El Satanico/Ringo Mendoza vs. Pirata Morgan/Herodes/El Hijo Del Gladiador There is no reason for a match with this line-up to be this mediocre. Pirata vs. Satanico is a match-up that should tear down the house, and they were good, but a big step down from what you would expect. Really a step down even from lesser match-ups. Everyone else was just kinda there, save for Gladiador, who was outright shitty down the stretch with his "comical" selling. Yeah, this won't make for much of a C+A entry, but there's really not a whole lot to say about this one.
