Posted May 29, 201015 yr comment_5451406 This starts with Marc Lowrance announcing that Gino Hernandez has died and this is still so sad but what makes it worse is that they go into talking about the blinding angle involving Chris Adams. Tasteless. Chain Steel Cage Match: Bruiser Brody vs. One Man Gang (1/27/86) This is a chain match inside a steel cage, the fact that TNA hasn't stolen this stipulation yet is beyond me. Nothing fancy about this one as both men use the chain and the cage to bloody each other but Brody would walk out the door after just one chain shot only to be met by the Freebirds who throw him back in the cage so he can get destroyed by everyone until the Von Erichs climb in. The match was way too short but the brawl after the match was awesome and this is extra material. Next is a wild brawl between Brody & Gordy from a couple of weeks earlier which I'm pretty sure I've seen but this is one of the wildest brawls ever in World Class and a slam dunk extra. Then we get dueling promos by Adams & Gino pimping their feud and again this is so sad. David Von Erich vs. Magic Dragon (9/14/82) This was a fun little match with David breaking out the sleeper to defeat the Dragon. Next is a fun promo by Gordy channeling his inner Terry Funk followed up by a Gang promo with Brody being held back from attacking him. Good stuff. Bruiser Brody & "Modern Day Warrior" Kerry Von Erich vs. Terry "Bamm Bamm" Gordy & One Man Gang (12/30/85) Parsons & Rude were supposed to wrestle but after the situation that just happened, Ken Mantell ordered the match order switched so they can get this going in the ring. TV time would run out though. Next is the full awesome breakup of the Dynamic Duo and goddamn is this awesome. Gino alone makes this a grand slam extra. "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol vs. Tommy Montana (1/6/86) Idol working here is really odd but this was part of the joint partnership between World Class & Texas All-Star. Montana actually gets some offense in here and puts up a decent fight but Idol prevails in the end using a tombstone piledriver which I don't think I've ever seen him use. Ken Mantell then comes out after the match to announce the contract signing for the first Gino vs. Chris match on 1/27/86 and then talks about the Sunshine/Link relationship even giving a fake background to the beginning of Link's career. Then we get a fun promo by the Freebirds on being champions followed up by Sunshine coming out talking about Missy. 2 out of 3 falls: Iceman King Parsons & Lance Von Erich vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes & Buddy Roberts) (1/6/86) Lance breaks out the Kevin style bodyscissors early in the match on Buddy which was interesting. Iceman was fun here throwing his rapid punches with Hayes bouncing on the ropes like a pinball. Lance would get worked over here by the Birds with Hayes giving him a vicious looking bulldog but he would get the tag to Iceman who cleans house and hits the Butt Butt to take the first fall. It's Iceman's turn to get dominated in the second fall but he would get the hot tag to Lance before the 4-way brawl breaks out which would bring out Gordy but Lance gave him a dropkick before he could get in the ring but he would get there to lock on the Oriental Spike for the DQ. The story was they were trying to take Lance out because none of the other Von Erichs were there but Adias & Iceman would make the save. This was a fun match and a borderline nomination. Brian Adias vs. "Gentleman" Chris Adams (1/6/86) This is a weird match because you just had the breakup angle happen earlier with Adams getting busted open and coming off as a face but he is still working heel here. Adams is relentless early on working over Adias but he would rip off Adams' bandage and worked over the cut to get the advantage. Adams would soon cut him off and went back to attacking him but Adias would catch him with an inside cradle to pull off a upset win over a frustrated Adams. This was a fairly good match.
