Posted May 30, 201015 yr comment_5451427 This starts with Gary Hart & the Gang cutting a promo about the six-man tag titles. Gino then cuts a great promo talking about cutting Kevin's hair. Kerry, Kevin, & Mike Von Erich vs. Killer Brooks, "Maniac" Mark Lewin, & One Man Gang (8/5/85) This is a wild match with Lewin going nuts on Kerry which was awesome as he was just beating his ass and it ended up with all six men beating the hell out of each other and the match goes to a no contest. This was good stuff but not a nomination. Red River Jack vs. The Grappler (2/13/87) This is the first TV match of the gimmick and basically a squash. Gary Hart then comes out for an angry promo about the existance of Red River Jack. Steve Simpson vs. Abdullah the Butcher (2/13/87) Abby jumps Simpson as he comes out and beats the hell out of him with Simpson even juicing. Steve would fight back though before Abby threw him over the top rope for the DQ. The Dynamic Duo comes out and says that they will never wrestle the Von Erichs again and announce that they would face the Cosmic Cowboys on Christmas Night at Reunion. Marc Lowrance asks them if they are sure they want to face the Cosmic Cowboys and they said that they don't care because they are no one important. The Cowboys come out and the Duo is pissed of course setting off a wild brawl. This was fantastic and a slam dunk extra. (12/9/85) Iceman then comes out in a neckbrace and he vows revenge on Rick Rude for injuring his neck at Reunion on Thanksgiving night. Tatum & Missy then follow with a promo of their own. Next we get a taped promo from the Freebirds talking about their return to Dallas and they want the Von Erichs. Definite extra. 2 out of 3 falls: Kerry & Kevin Von Erich vs. One Man Gang & "Hollywood" John Tatum (12/9/85) Sunshine is out with the Von Erichs to counter Missy. It was hard to keep these four from fighting each other all at the same time in the first fall so Gang would leave and come back with a broom and trash can lid but they would get moved out of the way and the match returned to normal. Kerry would get claw on Tatum but sure enough the 4-way brawl would restart ending up with Kerry slingshotting Tatum into a diving cross body block by Kevin off of the top rope to take the fall. The Freebirds would show up between falls though and destroyed the Von Erichs. This is another slam dunk extra. "Ravishing" Rick Rude vs. Mark Youngblood (12/9/85) This was a decent match nothing more. Then we get a promo by Pringle & Rude and this was pretty good. Next is a promo by the Freebirds from the AWA which is hilarious because Marc Lowrance calls it the Deep South. Extra material. Then we get a promo by Tatum & Missy on Sunshine Brian Adias & Cowboy Scott Casey vs. The Missing Link & "Hollywood" John Tatum (12/2/85) The story of this match is that Link acts like he doesn't want to stay in the corner and doesn't know how a tag match works which is hilarious because Link had been in loads of tag matches as a member of Devastation Inc. This was the backdrop for the Link babyface turn.
May 30, 201015 yr comment_5451428 That Kerry and Kevin match vs OMG and John Tatum features one of my all time fav calls in wrestling. As the Birds appear on the scene destroying the Von Erichs we get Marc Lowrance screaming " The Devil has appeared here at the Will Rogers Coliseum and there goes Kevin into the Orchestra pit!
May 31, 201015 yr comment_5451431 Yeah, that's one of Lowrance's crowning moments of awesome. I hope he gets more credit after this set as his gravitas and enthusiasm really made up for his shortcomings.
