Posted June 3, 201015 yr comment_5451576 McAdam 2151 Disc 1 Iceman Parsons vs. John Tatum (Fort Worth) - Tatum plays his chicken shit game early, teasing a punching match with Ice only to bail. I don’t mind stalling and Tatum (along with trying to please Missy) is one of the best at it. Tatum’s juking and jiving is cracking me up. Just the threat of Ice punching him sends Tatum reeling. So the first 5 minutes are Tatum posing and running and Ice threatening to punch him… and it is all good. When Tatum gets punched, Missy throws a tantrum. This reminds me of the Rude-Savage match I nominated for the Memphis set, where the match was more about shtick than about movement. However, if you are a Tatum or Ice fan then you will enjoy this match. Ice has Tatum pinned but Missy interferes. As Ice is looking at Missy, Tatum comes from behind and Ice levels him. Great stuff. Ice chases Missy on the outside, gets nailed by Tatum on the way in and Tatum gets the three even though Ice had his leg on the rope. However, Missy gets her way by pushing Ice’s leg off the rope. I could see people shitting on this match but fuck them… this ruled. Nomination. Fabulous Freebirds Interview – Hayes has a Confederate bandana tied in his hair. Never seen him do that before. Brian Adias Interview Sunshine Interview Rick Rude vs. Brian Adias - Adias gets a flash roll up on Rude in the 1st fall. Rude is pissed. The 2nd fall is missing. Damn McAdam tapes. Von Erichs Interview Rick Rude Interview John Tatum & Missy Hyatt Interview Ken Mantel Interview Rick Rude Interview Michael Hayes vs. Lance Von Erich (Fort Worth) - Lance controls early working on the arm. Hayes comes back with a clothesline and Hayes has a sweet punch. As Hayes has Lance in a chinlock, the other Freebirds join the ringside. Kevin and Kerry join as well. Lance makes a comeback but all hell breaks loose as TV time runs out. Michael Hayes vs. Brian Adias - Michael Hayes keeps getting shown up by Adias early on as he loses his cool. He still hass time to work in his signature struts and moonwalk. He takes control after a missed Hayes knee drop but as Adias hooks on the spinning toe hold to capitalize, Hayes kicks him and Adias takes a nasty bump outside and “injures” his leg. Hayes goes to work on Adias’s leg and hooks in a figure four. Good stuff so far. Kerry Von Erich comes in to break up my good vibe. This could have been a contender but the abrupt ending killed it. John Tatum & Missy Hyatt Interview – At Tatum’s home with Missy in a hot tub. EXTRA One Man Gang & John Tatum vs. Kerry Von Erich & Missing Link - Tatum with his signature taunting to start on Kerry and then he just unloads on Kerry until the comeback that ends with Tatum’s face on Link’s head. Missy is pouting and OMG helps Tatum regroup. Inside, Link abuses Tatum with the headbutts and Tatum is playing a great punching bag. Gang ends up inside to help his team take control. The ref loses control and Kerry and Tatum end up in the ring. However, the ref is trying to contain Gang and Link and Tatum after Missy sprays something in Kerry’s eyes. Too short for a nomination but fun. Rick Rude & Percy Pringle Interview Fabulous Freebirds Interview John Tatum Interview John Tatum vs. Missing Link (Penalty Box Match) (Fort Worth) - Tatum comes out attacking Link and the tape cuts out. Assholes. And it cuts out for… Bruiser Brody vs. Jack Victory – There is no justice Ken Mantel Press Conference John Tatum & The Grappler Interview John Tatum & The Grappler vs. The Fantastics - The Fantastics do the usual early on to send Tatum and Grappler regrouping. This was on par with the Battens tag I saw last night. Good match but the Fantastics are really dominating as they do a bunch of heel miscue spots. This match was about 80% Fans and 20% heels. They have Bobby Fulton working FIP later on but he does so much better as the hot tag. I prefer Tommy Rogers as FIP. The match is thrown out after Missy comes in and slaps Bobby a few times while the heels hold him. Way too much Fantastics control and a non-satisfying finish leave this one in the disposable pile. Michael Hayes & Buddy Roberts Interview (Fort Worth) +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ McAdam 2151 Disc 2 Bruiser Brody Interview (Fort Worth) John Tatum Interview Fantastics Interview The Grappler Interview John Tatum vs. Kevin Von Erich (Fort Worth) - If they clip this, I am going to freak. Punching contest to start and Kevin hits some nice offense early with a sweet dropkick and controls with his head scissors takedown. After Kevin controls and Tatum regroups, Tatum continues doing his shtick and Missy is still pouting and complaining and I am still not tired of their act. Very similar to the Ice match with Kevin knocking Tatum with dropkicks and Tatum going outside. However, Tatum picks his spot and controls until Kevin hits a 2nd rope dropkick. Kevin gets sidetracked by Missy and Tatum POUNDs on Kevin for touching his girl. However, Tatum misses a body press and Kevin gets the three. Tatum holds Kevin so Missy can slap him but Kevin ducks and John gets nailed instead. You guys are going to have to sift through the John Tatum matches because I could write a play on Missy and Tatum’s act and how awesome it is. I have lost all objectivity. NOMINATION Michael Hayes vs. Bruiser Brody (Fort Worth) - Clipped out a minute in. Thank God it was this match and not the Tatum-Kevin match Missy Hyatt & John Tatum Interview Skandor Akbar Interview Rick Rude & Percy Pringle Interview Brian Adias Interview Michael Hayes vs. Missing Link - Hayes goes chasing after Sunshine and she escapes after running in the ring and link grabs Hayes… and the clip. Michael Hayes & Buddy Roberts promo Kevin & Lance Von Erich Promo Rick Rude & Percy Pringle Poolside Promo Skandor Akbar Interview Fabulous Freebirds Interview Bruiser Brody interrupts a John Tatum match leading to … a brawl with Terry Gordy David Manning Interview Sunshine Interview Kerry, Kevin & Lance Von Erich vs. Fabulous Freebirds (Fort Worth) - Intros only. Why do I bother? Michael Hayes vs. Lance Von Erich (Dallas) - Just like Tatum, Hayes has a great shtick. Never gets old. This was entertaining but Lance has a sloppy arm drag. Ricky Steamboat, he isn’t. Lance focuses on Hayes’ arm but Hayes takes Lance down with a stomach blow and ends up tossing him outside. Inside, they battle back and forth with Hayes looking especially nasty with the knee drop and slamming Lance’s head into the mat. Good match but nothing I’ll remember tomorrow. Hayes hits a body press rolled through for a Lance three count. Terry Gordy vs. Lance Von Erich (Fort Worth) - Good start with Lance hitting the arm drags crisp and clean. Lance clinches in the headlock and they work some pinning combos with Gordy grabbing the tights for a two. Oh shit, Gordy does a superkick to take Lance down followed by a piledriver. Sweet. Lance tries to reverse an Irish whip but gets met with another Gordy boot. Damn. Gordy is in control and tries to put Lance out with the sleeper to build for Lance’s comeback. However, Gordy hooks on another sleeper. I usually don’t like too many sleepers but they have worked it into the match nicely. Another comeback and a THIRD Gordy sleeper. Gordy tries another piledriver but Lance reverses it. Lance reverses an Irish Whip and Lance hooks in the sleeper. Good stuff. Ah man, Buddy Roberts joins us at ringside. Gordy tries to roll Lance up but Roberts accidentally hits Bam Bam instead and Lance gets the three count and the TV belt. So much better than the Hayes match. NOMINATION. Gordy and Roberts argue after the match. Buddy Roberts + Mike & Chris Von Erich Confrontation (Fort Worth) –Extra - Gordy ends up putting the Oriental Spike on Chris. Badass. Include Freebirds Interview after the match. Hayes even includes a Highlander reference because of their appearance in the movie. John Tatum & Missy Hyatt Interview Kerry, Kevin & Lance Von Erich vs. Fabulous Freebirds (Fort Worth) - Kevin cleans house early and the crowd comes alive. Damn, Kevin has a sweet dropkick. The Birds regroup and work on Lance Von Erich and they abuse poor Lance working as your FIP. Hayes comes in however and he ends up as Lance’s whipping post. Shit, the dreaded clip. Matt Borne vs. Steve Simpson - Intros Only Bruiser Brody Puerto Rico Interview World Class News Footage (with Kevin and Flair interviews) EXTRA Gary Hart & Chris Adams Interview Midnight Express Interview Ric Flair Promo Terry Gordy vs. Missing Link - Clipped Terry Gordy Interview +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ McAdam 2151 Disc 3 Gino Hernandez & Chris Adams Interview (Fort Worth) - Ken Mantel comes out and confronts the Duo. John Tatum vs. Scott Casey (Fort Worth) - Tatum is without Missy here. Really nice back and forth including a roll up sequence between the two. Later on, Casey goes for another sunset flip but Tatum escapes showing the people he has learned from his earlier mistakes. Good stuff. Tatum seems to lost his edge without Missy. He lets Casey off the ropes when they call for the break. Great sequence out of a test of strength and this is right behind Adams-Kabuki out of undiscovered feuds I love. I have a gut feeling that these Tatum matches will have people wildly split between those who love it and those who hate it. I could see tim Noel putting this in his Bottom 5. After Casey escapes a headlock, he goes for the bulldog but takes a nasty spill in the corner. Now Tatum is cheating it up, using the ropes to choke and stomp Casey. Sunshine gets on the apron while Casey is down and slaps the spit out of Tatum’s mouth. Casey gets his roll up but Tatum escapes. Casey goes batshit and beats the hell out of Tatum. Tatum throws Casey over the top for the DQ. Outside, Missy appears and Tatum holds Sunshine’s hair while Missy wallops Sunshine. Good stuff and a Definite Nomination form where I stand. Gary Hart & Mark Lewin Interview Iceman Parsons vs. OMG (Dallas) - Seen It Jack Victory vs. Tommy Montana - The Dynamic Duo are on commentary. Montana wins the match. Bruiser Brody Interview Bruiser Brody vs. One Man Gang (Fort Worth) - JIP. Mark Lewin and Kerry get involved. Bruiser Brody vs. Mark Lewin - You guys can watch this and tell me if it was any good. Kerry & Kevin Von Erich vs. Dynamic Duo (Dallas) - Seen it Ric Flair vs. Kevin Von Erich (Parade of Champions) - Kevin controls early on with a headlock and a rollup sends Flair outside to rethink his strategy. Ugh, I know I am supposed to enjoy this match but I just don’t. This isn’t Flair in Crockett where the feuds with Dusty, Garvin, RNR are filled with enough animosity to make them fresh. This isn’t Flair in All Japan where Flair amps up the intensity. This is touring champ Flair where you could switch this match out with the one from Terry Gordy earlier and the only difference would be the ending. Flair gets nastier later on in the match but by that point, I stopped caring. I may need to revisit when the Casey-Tatum match isn’t fresh in my mind. It seems like this is a no brainer but I need to watch this match again.
