Posted June 4, 201015 yr comment_5451588 McAdam 2213 Disc 3 Fabulous Freebirds vs. Steve Simpson, Kerry & Lance Von Erich (Lumberjack Elimination Match) - The faces get the shine when Buddy is in there but when Gordy takes over on Simpson, they brutalize him pretty bad including tossing him to the lumberjacks. When Kerry gets in, he gets taken out quickly with a double clothesline. Oh shit, didn’t expect that. Freebirds dominate the next round but there is a glimmer of hope for the faces as Hayes gets smacked around outside by the lumberjacks. Fritz and Kevin are kicked out as lumberjacks for interfering. Hayes has things in control but Simpson reverses a rollup and Hayes is gone to even it up. First highlight of the tag has Gordy ending up outside getting strapped. However, it is a brief celebration for Simpson because Roberts would pin him shortly after. Lance takes some nasty knees from Roberts. Gordy gets thrown over the top rope and uses the claw on Buddy to win the 6-man titles. I think getting rid of Kerry Von Erich really hurt this match big time. There were some fun parts but not enough for me to support a nomination. David Manning Interview Rick Rude & Blackjack Mulligan Interview Chris Adams Interview Kevin & Lance Von Erich Interview Blackjack Mulligan vs. Brian Adias (Fort Worth) - Adias has the most generic offense ever. Don’t really care for Mulligan and the match had audio difficulties so I’ll pass. Skandor Akbar, Missing Link & Mr. X vs. Terry Gordy, Buddy Roberts & Chic Donovan (Elimination Match) - A fucking mess. The loser leaves town? Roberts eliminates Mr. X after Chic Donovan is out. Buddy gets tossed right after. Gordy fights off Link and Akbar. Link headbutts Akbar out and Gordy tosses Link. Gordy wins and the crowd goes nuts but this sucked. I am guessing that only Gordy gets to stay? Ric Flair vs. Kerry Von Erich (12/25/84) - Ric is champ here. I think the problem isn't that I have seen too much Flair in World Class but that I have seen too much Flair in All Japan and Crockett and he has so many more matches that smoke this. The crowd heat was insane, the work was solid but what makes this match stand out? The restart where they didn’t count Kerry’s fall? Once again, this is a case of Flair being touring champ guy and not world beater. Gary Hart Interview Chris Adams & Lance Von Erich vs. Rick Rude & Kabuki (Dallas) - The faces work on Kabuki’s arm but nothing exciting. Kabuki tags in Rude who takes over on Adams. Rude’s offense is really growing on me. Adams tries to fight back, runs at Kabuki in the corner and meets Kabuki’s foot. Kabuki starts attacking Chris’s eye. Right on! So simple and so smart. Rude takes over and punches the eye as well. Adams makes the hot tag to Lance and Lance works Kabuki over. Kabuki thrusts the throat, followed by a thrust kick and tags Rude who works on Lance’s back. All good so far. Oh nice, Lance reverses the bearhug but it doesn’t last long and he is stuck as FIP. Lance gets the claw on Rude and all four are in the ring. Pringle whacks Lance in the back and Rude gives a sweet lariat to get the pin on Lance. Good solid tag. I don’t know if I would fight for it but I want you guys to see it so consider this a nomination. Black Bart, Crusher Yurkov & Brian Adias vs. Kevin, Mike & Lance Von Erich - Early on, Mike didn’t look too bad and Lance looked solid until the heels work him over. Gotta disagree with Kris big time here. Lance and Mike were perfectly fine early on. I think Bart loked weak though with some lame punches and I have seen Bart level dudes. In fact, Kevin was the first one to botch a move. The overall problem with this match is that the heels were really generic in their attack. Compare this to Kabuki and Rude and it isn’t even close. I agree with Kris that it isn’t a nomination but not for the reasons he gave. The weird finish sucked too. Bruiser Brody in AWA
