All Japan Pro Wrestling (August 6 & August 13 1989)

1. Kenta Kobashi vs Shunji Takano - Reviewed on Classics.

2. Joe & Dean Malenko vs Masa Fuchi & Yoshinari Ogawa - This was like a three-minute clip with Fuchi submitting to an armbar at the end. Not sure why it made TV at all.

3. Stan Hansen & Genichiro Tenryu vs Jumbo Tsuruta & Yoshiaki Yatsu - Tenryu and Hansen dominated most of the way without building any real sense of peril or drama around the tags. Then, Jumbo rallied for about a minute and won with a roll-up on Hansen. Just a shitty, shitty formula that made no sense for these two teams. I wouldn't have thought this quartet could make me actively hate a match, but I hated this shit.

4. Tom Zenk & Jim Brunzell vs Kenta Kobashi & Shunji Takano - Decent back-and-forth action but nothing I'll remember in five minutes,

5. Joe Malenko vs Masa Fuchi - Reviewed on Classics.

6. Jumbo Tsuruta, Great Kabuki & Yoshiaki Yatsu vs Toshiaki Kawada, Stan Hansen & Genichiro Tenryu - Tenryu and Kabuki fired off an awesome strike exchange near the end and that almost made me nominate the match. But most of it was just okay, with a long, one-note beatdown on Yatsu followed by a long, one-note beatdown on Kawada. Kawada looked a bit off on his flying moves as well. There just wasn't enough standout stuff to make up for the blah stretches.
