Posted June 6, 201015 yr comment_5451663 "Maniac" Matt Borne vs. Cowboy Scott Casey (12/15/86) Borne's little dance after a bodyslam of Casey was such a great dick move which was followed up by Casey doing a Fargo Strut and the Hulkster calls with his hands when he hit a move. That was good stuff. Borne was fun as usual and Casey got to hang with him but the finish was a little abrupt to me as Casey got an O'Connor Roll on the ropes near Pringle who jabbed him with a cane allowing Borne to fall on him to get the win. One thing I've noticed about this era of World Class is a lot of O'Connor Roll variations as finishes. If this was a little longer and had a better finish it could've been a nomination. Kevin Von Erich vs. Master G (11/17/86) Kevin is late coming out so they do introductions without him and when he does come out, he still signs autographs for a couple of minutes so they ring the bell to get him to stop. This was a fair match with Kevin winning after hitting his reverse cross body block off the top rope. Next we get promos by all the heels talking about the 12/29/86 show in Fort Worth. World Class World Heavyweight Title: Kevin Von Erich © vs. Al Madril (12/15/86) Madril is begging for Kevin to come out and he does starting off a wild brawl. Kevin locks on the claw on Madril while on the ropes then brings it from the ring to the floor before just beating the shit out of Madril until Al gets the hammer and starts working Kevin over with it. Kevin is superhuman here though and goes nuts on Madril until Adias shows up with a chair for the DQ. Mike would then run out to even the odds and the heels run away. This barely goes over 4 minutes but this is awesome stuff and a definite extra. 17 Man Battle Royal (10/27/86) Brody & Abby take themselves out early and Pringle hides under the ring but other than that this is your standard battle royal. Dingo & Buzz Sawyere were the last two in the ring and of course Dingo goes over. Texas Tornado Match: Bruiser Brody, Kevin, Lance, & Mike Von Erich vs. Black Bart, "Maniac" Matt Borne, Spike Johnson, & "Mad Dog" Buzz Sawyer (9/29/86) It's not all 8 men in the ring at the same time but it is 4 men at the same time. This is nothing but a wild brawl with everyone fighting with each other and it ends up being at least 6-8 men in the ring at all times. No fancy wrestling here and this was fun but pretty short and not a nomination. Gary Hart comes out with Marc Lowrance and gloats about Brody being run out of town on Christmas night at Reunion. "Maniac" Matt Borne vs. Lance Von Erich (12/29/86) This was a good back and forth match with Borne being solid and Lance trying to hang with him while doing a good job of selling for Matt. Percy would also get involved as well which forced Lance to chase him around but Percy would still get his shots in. Lance would fight back though getting you guessed it an O'Connor Roll for a nearfall but Borne would keep the control countering Lance's attempts at offense. Lance came back though with a backslide which he struggled to get then an inside cradle for nearfalls. It looks like they are going to a draw and they end up doing that as both men continue to kick out of each other's pin attempts. For this era of World Class, this was one of the better matches and a good match overall so I'm throwing it up as a low-end nomination. Next we get promos by Atlas, Simpson, Kerry & Mike which would bring out Adias & Madril for a standoff and a brawl which brought out Kevin and this was fun. This was followed up by a promo by the Pringle Dynasty and Adias/Madril. Steve Simpson vs. The Grappler (Len Denton) (12/29/86) Marc Lowrance on commentary telling everyone how important it was for the fans to cheer the babyfaces to give them the support to fight off the evil heels and how they must show up to the arenas to let their voices be heard was the highlight of this match for sure. The match itself was decent and the finish was good as Simpson won with a piledriver then went for the loaded boot trying to take it off but failed. Al Madril vs. Cowboy Scott Casey (12/29/86) These two had wild feud for Texas All-Star during the Summer of 1986 so they had some good chemistry going into the match. Madril heels it up here bigtime using all sorts of dirty tactics while telling the fans to go die as he chokes Casey with the camera cord on the floor. Casey is good here as the FIP as he sells Madril's insanity very well with the crowd getting into it. All the matches on this show takes place in 2 rings as there was a battle royal later on but this was the first one to incorporate both of them as Madril threw Casey into the other ring but he would come flying back with a dropkick off the top rope. Then for some reason we get two obvious clips in between Madril getting a nearfall on a reverse cross body block off the top rope and Casey getting one of his own with Madril tucking and rolling to get the pin using the tights. Who knows what we missed on the clips because it was very key to the finish so I'm going no on this one.
