Posted June 7, 201015 yr comment_5451717 US Jr. Heavyweight Title: Bill Ash © vs. Ted Oates (8/19/85) Gordon Solie admitting he called a spin under takedown a wing over takedown saying that he goofed was hilarious. Oates using the Mr. Wrestling II kneelifts early on was fun. Ash tries to stall outside the ring a couple of times but Oates keeps him in the ring and eventually works over his left leg so he can get the spinning toehold but Ash would rake his eyes to break free. Ash wouldn't have the advantage long as Oates starts firing punches but Ash would get his Arkansas Whiplash as a counter to get the win. Okay match. Next is the Adrian Street video we've seen many times. Then we get promos by Roy Lee Welch, Bill Ash, & Adrian Street about future matches. "Mr. Unpredictable" Dick Slater vs. Kent Glover (8/26/85) Slater makes his debut here winning easily. Next is a great promo by The Flame talking about beating Tommy Rich & Ric Flair in the future with a retort by Rich. Then we get the wrestling action in slo-mo they like to show. Norvell Austin & Brickhouse Brown vs. Randy Barber & Wayne Lavinski (8/26/85) Competitive squash followed up by promos by Norvell/Brick & The Nightmares. Then we get BREAKING NEWS by ABC Sports regarding Pete Rose tying Ty Cobb's all-time hit record. Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden vs. Jimmy Backlund & Josh Stroud (8/26/85) Backlund is the future Jimmy del Ray and he shows some good fire here with Stroud trying hard as well but the Studs would reign supreme in the end. Then we get promos by the Studs regarding their upcoming match with the Armstrongs & Dick Slater who cuts a promo in retort. The Nightmares (Danny Davis & Ken Wayne) vs. Les Freeman & Roy Lee Welch (9/9/85) Studs come out during the match and announce that the video from Bob Armstrong that was supposed to air on the show won't be shown due to an injunction. The faces especially Freeman give the Nightmares a run for their money getting some nearfalls but the Nightmares great teamwork and their awesome tombstone piledriver/diving headbutt finish would finish off Freeman. Fun little match. Next we get Solie narrating clips of Flair regaining the NWA title from Kerry Von Erich in Japan. Then we get promos by Nightmares, Street, Norvell, & Brick Roberto Soto vs. David Foxx (9/9/85) Spotlight match for Soto with Flame doing commentary warning Soto to stay away or he would get burnt. Then we get promos by Ash, Flame, Soto, & Welch. Continental Heavyweight Title: "Wildfire" Tommy Rich © vs. The Flame (9/9/85) The winner of this match gets a shot at Flair so Flame attacks Rich at the bell as he wants his title back and the shot at Flair. Rich would fight back though throwing some good punches but missed a diving fistdrop which allowed Flame to load up his mask where he headbutted him then went for the pin but Rich got his foot on the ropes. The battle went to the floor where Rich was posted before going back to the ring where the Flame kept control. Flame would reload his mask and as this happened, Rich would sneak behind him getting the O'Connor Roll and a fast count to get the win. This wasn't as good as their previous match but still fun. Next we get promos by Rich & Slater regarding an upcoming match between the two and this is pretty good stuff. Then we get a promo by the Armstrongs & Slater on the Studs and they show the video of Scott getting injured. Brad & Steve Armstrong, & "Mr. Unpredictable" Dick Slater vs. The Stud Stable (Robert & Ron Fuller, & Jimmy Golden) (9/9/85) The faces would run the heels out of the ring immediately with Slater swinging his towel around furiously. The Armstrongs look strong early taking it to the heels as Slater dances around on the apron. Slater would soon hold his hand out for the tag and when he jumps in, the heels scatter so he would tag Brad back in. Brad is getting worked over by the heels in the corner and as this happens Solie starts getting worked up about Slater but he was doing nothing but trying to get the referee to look at the heels so Solie jumped the gun a little here then tried to make up for himself saying that Slater could've tagged in Brad but didn't which would've been hard since they were in complete opposite corners. Brad would make a comeback and got the tag to Steve starting off a brawl while Slater stays in the corner watching. Brad would get a sunset flip on Ron after Robert accidentally hit him to get the pinfall and as this is finishing, Slater jumps Steve and the heels would pound on them for quite a while. Slater then announced after the match that he cares about money not friendships so that's why he did what he did. Brad & Steve would declare revenge afterwards. The match wasn't much but the angle afterwards was awesome and a definite extra.
