Posted June 14, 201015 yr comment_5451953 They came out grappling and Choshu got the better of it, setting up few minutes of pummeling on Misawa. Misawa teased a comeback, but Choshu cut him off with two brutal backdrop suplexes. Then Riki missed a lariat and Misawa launched his real comeback, capping it with a missile dropkick. The crowd was pretty psyched at that point but of course, Choshu regained the advantage quickly. Misawa got one last chance to show his spirit by enduring the scorpion for about two minutes. Choshu finally released the hold and put the youngster away with a vicious lariat. I'm on the fence with this one. It was exactly the match I expected them to have, and they clearly connected with the crowd. But it would have gone up a level or two if Misawa's comeback had been longer and featured another nearfall or two. I'll throw it on the block for you guys to take a look, but it won't bother me if it falls off in the end. If nothing else, it would make a nice addition to a Misawa comp as it might've been the only taped singles meeting between two megastars. 1986 All Japan TV Disc 6
June 23, 201015 yr comment_5452291 Tiger Mask vs. Riki Choshu, 3/13/86 (TV 6) - As far as I can tell, Choshu’s goal is to keep Misawa grounded because he doesn’t let him stand up for 5 minutes. However, when Misawa does get on his feet, he uses his speed and fancy moves to put Choshu on the defensive. However, Choshu brushes off Misawa, locks him in the Sharpshooter and lays him out with a lariat. For such a short match, there was nothing that made it really stand out enough to make the set. Except for a brief flurry of offense, Misawa was dominated and the end wasn’t really built to, it just ended. No vote.
June 23, 201015 yr Author comment_5452303 I told you this wouldn't do it for you. I think if it had appeared in 1989, I wouldn't have nominated it. But I was getting kind of desperate after so much blah 1986 TV.
October 4, 201014 yr comment_5456757 Riki Choshu vs. Tiger Mask II (3/13/86) Budokan is hot for Choshu here. This started slow with matwork and you would think by this they were going to have a longish match but that would be wrong. Choshu would dominate for a while until Tiger hit some spinning back kicks which led up to him eating two backdrop suplexes. TM would duck a lariat though and hit a cross body block starting off his comeback where he got some nearfalls on Choshu before missing a dropkick which led to a sasorigatame. TM was in it for a while before getting free then eating a serious lariat for the pinfall. This was too short and lacking a real TM comeback run for this to be a nomination.
