Nothing stood out. Kuniaki Kobayashi/Riki Choshu vs. HIRO SAITO/SUPER STRONG MACHINE - Struggling to think of something to say about this. These Saito/SSM matches all ended the same way, with chairshots leading to a DQ. I'm not sure what Baba was going for with that booking. It's not like the crowd treated them as big threats. Genichiro Tenryu vs. Yoshiaki Yatsu - Reviewed on Classics. May16:Chiba park gymnasium (aired 5/17/86) remainder of Tenryu vs. . Yatsu match from 5/10/86 Masa Fuchi/JUMBO TSURUTA vs. Ashura Hara/RUSHER KIMURA - This was probably my favorite of a weak set of tags from these discs. It revolved around Fuchi starting shit with the heavyweights and ultimately getting stuck in a one-on-one match-up that he couldn't win. I just get a kick out of watching him slap a guy like Kimura and then catch hell for it. But I've seen the same plot play out much more dramatically in other matches, so no vote. ANIMAL HAMAGUCHI/Riki Choshu vs. Goro Tsurumi/TERRY GORDY - The crowd seemed intrigued by Gordy vs. Choshu, but they only gave teases of it. Basically, Tsurumi was going to be in trouble if Choshu and Hamaguchi ever isolated them, and once they did, the win seemed almost casual. Tiger Mask/Genichiro Tenryu vs. HIRO SAITO/SUPER STRONG MACHINE - Saito and SSM started out working Misawa's leg, but that went nowhere. He got back to rope running and flying in no time. I was a little surprised that Tenryu sold for them as much as he did. I liked his ridiculously hard chop to get out of trouble. Overall, they did a poor job of building to key moments, and the crowd responded with well-deserved apathy. Then they went to another chairshot DQ. God, this 1986 shit is wearing me out.
