Posted June 19, 201015 yr comment_5452173 DVD #12 June5:Osaka castle hall (aired 6/7/86) Hiro Saito vs. Mil Mascaras - JIP with them lying around on the mat. Then we got a weak Saito tope and a countout. Mascaras couldn't get back to Mexico soon enough. Tiger Mask/Tenryu/TSURUTA vs. Kuniaki Kobayashi/Yoshiaki Yatsu/Riki Choshu - This featured a solid middle section that started with Choshu running in to flatten Jumbo with a lariat. Then Yatsu had a rare opportunity to work over the ace. And it was fun to watch Jumbo work his way out of trouble. The other thing I liked was the active participation of all the guys on the apron. We got the typical chaos at the end with everybody running in to hit big moves. But instead of building on that to turn the match into something special, they just went to a countout. Shunji Takano/SUPER STRONG MACHINE vs. The Road Warriors - The Warriors busted Takano open before the bell and the seconds carted him off. Khan entered in street clothes and started firing chops at the Warriors but then, they busted him open too. The match ended when Hawk took out the ref. Then Choshu came down to break up the post-match brawl. He and Khan seemed back on the same page, but then Khan turned on him again. This was a wild segment that would make another good extra on whichever disc has the Choshu-Khan match. May31:The Chitose city sport center (aired 6/14/86) Motoshi Okuma/GIANT BABA vs. The Road Warriors - My disc cut out in the middle of this. Jr.Heavyweight Kuniaki Kobayashi vs. Masa Fuchi - The great thing about Fuchi was that he could create heat with anyone, even if there wasn't any to start with. Kobayashi suffered a horrible cut off a fist drop, and it was fun to watch Fuchi work it over with punches. That was probably the most memorable part of the match. The countout came before they could do anything memorable with the finish. No vote despite the blood. ANIMAL HAMAGUCHI/ Choshu vs. HIRO SAITO/SUPER STRONG MACHINE - Finally, this feud started to take off in the aftermath of Khan's turn. Choshu bolted in at the bell, and the crowd was hot to see him get his hands on Saito. To his credit, Riki then took an extended beatdown to help build even more sympathy for his cause. Hamaguchi was great after the hot tag, doing little dances and tearing at SSM's mask. But he stayed one-on-one with the bigger guy for too long as Choshu got distracted with Saito on the outside. And SSM put him away with a suplex. Everything in this match carried an extra tinge of nastiness, and the crowd finally seemed excited about the Calgary Hurricanes. I'll give it a low-end nomination and I have high hopes for the coming tags that include Khan. Genichiro Tenryu/JUMBO TSURUTA vs. Yoshiaki Yatsu/ANIMAL HAMAGUCHI - I can't think of anything to criticize nor can I think of much to praise. They just didn't do anything to separate this match from the pack.
