August20:Sakata city gymnasium (aired 8/23/86) Takashi Ishikawa/MIGHTY INOUE vs. Invader #3/HIRO SAITO - JIP. Ishikawa and Inoue tossed off some nifty offense, but the match wasn't much. Tiger Mask vs. Super Medico - Medico tried to rough Misawa up, but Misawa finished him off pretty casually with a splash and German suplex. Tenryu/JUMBO TSURUTA vs. TIGER JEET SINGH/RUSHER KIMURA - Jumbo showed some fire with his opening attack on Singh, but Singh turned the tide with a shot to the nuts. He and Kimura controlled Jumbo with a bunch of choking and stomping. I was disappointed that when Jumbo and Tenryu regained control, they went for a long armbar sequence on Singh and a head scissors on Kimura. Jumbo rekindled the flame in a late-match exchange with Kimura, but then, Singh earned the DQ by hitting Tenryu with his sword to prevent him from winning after a power bomb. This wasn't horrible but certainly wasn't something I need to see again. Yoshiaki Yatsu/Riki Choshu vs. SUPER STRONG MACHINE/KILLER KHAN - This felt like a feud match with a bunch of hair pulling, mask ripping and attacks from the apron. In my favorite sequence, Choshu slapped the scorpion on SSM only for Khan to rush in and maul his old buddy. The crowd got really into the few moments of Riki in peril but as usual, he suplexed his way out of trouble a bit quickly for my liking. A few moments later, they all spilled outside for the double countout. I keep wanting to nominate the tags from this feud, but this was another one that got about 3/4 of the way to a nomination and then failed to climax.
