Posted August 6, 201015 yr comment_5454045 Tracy Smothers v. Masato Tanaka I really loved this. The FBI stuff was on point. These guys stiffed each other and Smothers' southern shtick didn't seem out of place against Tanaka. In fact, I get joy out of seeing the Japanese guys get the better of the Southern boys pretending to be Italians. I am going to nominate it because I can't see putting some of the other nominated stuff on the set while leaving this one off.
August 6, 201015 yr comment_5454076 I may have been spoiled by Kanemura v. Tracy which is just on another level. I was REALLY close to nominating this so it's something I can see making the set. Not sure it will hold at the end of the day, but I don't think it would look out of place either.

October 18, 201015 yr comment_5457376 Masato Tanaka vs. Tracy Smothers (8/9/98) Hey this took place on my 19th birthday and it's an outdoor show which I always love. The Big Don coming out with the pizza box was fantastic and their schtick before the match was fun. Tanaka was great here kicking the FBI's asses but not losing focus on Smothers until the numbers game caught up to him and the FBI would work him over. Rich was awesome on the outside here rooting for Tracy and giving the fans shit. Tanaka would make a fun comeback taking it to Tracy while kicking out of numerous nearfalls by Tracy. The finishing sequence was good as well and this is a nomination.
