A friend of mine sent me a message saying that she had a bunch of AWA that her dad recorded, and wanted to know if any of it was worth anything.

AWA is one of the groups that I'm the least familiar with, so I have no clue what's out there. I figured a lot of it was already available, but wanted to check to make sure. Here's the message she sent...

The AWA tapes were a hobby of my dads. he recorded every show then would dub them over to what he would call his " masters" while removing all the commercials.

I have awa all star from 81-87, all of pro wrestling USA (awa collab with msw and Jim crockett), and all of awa championship from the 85 debut to the final episode of 87.( show went till 90)

I also have wrestlerock 86 and superclash 1&2.

I'm working on match listing now. I'm looking at over 300 vhs tapes here though so this will take a while.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get on that (can't go there because barnett is a twat) and let them know if it's legit I'm willing to buy and convert all the 81-84 stuff. At least. You can make the offer and I can work it through you if that's easier than representing me as a separate party.

Obviously this could be some sort of scamm=a=rama but please investigate. If it's legit, Me want and will pay.

comment_5468255

Seriously, I need to know more about this as soon as is humanly possible. Per tape price, eps per tape, etc. If you want to make an offer on a per-tape basis or however you think is best go for it.

If they are willing to sell, maybe an initial offer of 5 tapes for a price to see what we're getting would be the wisest way to go.

The lady with all the tapes is supposed to get in touch in with Dan Ginnetty. She was given Dans email address so hopefully this works out. This could be an amazing find. As someone who grew up in Chicago, early 80s AWA has a special place in my heart. Every Sun morning from the time I was eight years old in 1981, I would go to my neighbors and at 10 am watch All Star wrestling and at 11am was the Luce show which showed old footage of 70s stuff from the old international amphitheater, or Soldier field.

YOu no longer have a cm account????

Barnett banned me after I called it a shithole when it was discovered that someone was selling Scott William's unpublished book on there.

I called it a shithole on another board, not CMax. My comments were along the lines of "If Scott wanted to he could probably get that shithole shut down", while initially reacting to the news of his unpublished book being sold/offered around over there.

Bob and I had many e-mails back and forth about it and it came down to Bob basically wanting me to suck his and the entire board's dick to get back on. I declined.

So yeah, no account there.

Hey KHawk. Dylan is done with the AWA that he currently has. Any idea of what else I need to pick up from you that is non post-1986 TV? Lets keep this project rolling.

Give me a couple of days to go through what I have and I can make a list. I'd estimate there is still a ton of footage that needs reviewing between 1980 - 85. My AWA 1982 Year in review might be a good place to start. it has most of everything relevant from that year. I have several AWA/WWA discs from 1981, and a few random discs of Denver and Chicago TV from 1983. Not tons of relevant matches on those two as I remember, but there is a ton of interviews and some are excellent.

My AWA Super Mix Discs have a lot of good bouts, somewhat random. Want me to put those match lists up in here and we can figure out what is needed off of those first?

Here's the match listings for my AWA 1982 Year in Review set:

DISC 1: January through April 1982

1) All Star Wrestling Intro (:45, EX-)

2) Interview: Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie introduces his new tag team partner,

Jerry Blackwell. (1:25, AWA TV, G/VG-)

3) Sheik Kaissie vs. Mad Dog Vachon. (1/7/82, Winnipeg)

The Sheik’s new partner makes his presence felt. (5:55, VG+/EX-)

Late in 1981, Hulk Hogan had turned into a full-fledged hero by saving Brad Rheingans from an attack by Jerry Blackwell. Having disposed of Blackwell, Hogan had turned his attention to the Heenan Family, in the hopes of securing a title shot against Nick Bockwinkel. Heenan put up a roadblock for Hogan to pass through on the way to a title shot:

4) Hulk Hogan vs. Bobby Duncum (1/17/82 Minneapolis)

Good brawl, and the fans are predictably nuts for the Hulk. (5:55, VG+/EX- with lower sound)

Mad Dog Vachon, meanwhile, was eager to continue his war with Blackwell, and with the Sheik as his new partner, Dog decided that an old friend was needed to meet the Sheiks on their own terms:

5) Mad Dog Vachon/Baron Von Raschke vs. Sheik Kaissie/Jerry Blackwell (2/4/82, Winnipeg). (9:00, VG with 1 break-up).

Nick Bockwinkel, the AWA Champion, had embarked on a tour of Japan in the first part of 1982:

6) Nick Bockwinkel (AWA Champion) vs. Jumbo Tsuruta (2/4/82, Japan) 24:17, EX-

Flash back to December of 1981, A TV match featuring Buck Zumhofe and Tito Santana vs. Ken Patera and Bobby Duncum ended with Zumhofe’s boom-box smashed to bits and left Buck with a concussion. Wally Karbo, AWA promoter, threatened to suspend the Heenan Family for their actions here. After Tito Santana asked that they not be suspended so they could take their revenge, Karbo countered with this:

7) Interview: Wally Karbo announces that Ken Patera and Bobby Duncum would not get their title shot against Greg Gagne and Jim Brunzell due to their actions on TV. Instead, to avoid suspension, Bobby Heenan, Patera and Duncum would have to face Zumhofe, Santana and a partner of their choice in a six-man match. Heenan is, of course, very upset by this. (AWA TV, G/VG-)

8) Interview: Wally Karbo and the High Flyers. Karbo asks the High Flyers for a favour: Since he had to remove Patera and Duncum as their opponents on the upcoming card, would they instead help him out by accepting a non-title match against the new team of Sheiks Blackwell and Kaissie? Gagne and Brunzell accept. (AWA TV, G/VG-)

9) Sheiks Blackwell and Kaissie are interviewed about their non-title match. (total time for all these interviews: 6:35. G/VG-)

10) Greg Gagne & Jim Brunzell (AWA Tag Champs) vs. Sheiks Blackwell and Kaissie (Non-title match, early 1982, Winnipeg) 7:20, VG with some flash.

11) Buck Zumhofe and Tito Santana introduce their mystery partner for their 6-man match against The Heenan Family: Baron Von Raschke. (AWA TV, G/VG-)

11) Interview: Bobby Heenan. He’s predictably not happy about having to face Raschke in the 6-man bout. (AWA TV, G/VG-) total time for this interview block is 2:10)

Unfortunately for Heenan, Santana would drop out of that match so that another wrestler with a hate-on for the Heenan family could get in: Hulk Hogan.

12) Hulk Hogan/Baron Von Raschke/Buck Zumhofe vs. Ken Patera/Bobby Duncum/Bobby Heenan (2/28/82, Minneapolis). Hogan goes nuts and nearly kills Heenan during and after the match. Wild! (12:50, VG+)

Nick Bockwinkel, meanwhile, continued defending the AWA title against a variety of challengers:

13) Nick Bockwinkel (AWA Champion) vs. Tito Santana (3/4/82, Winnipeg). Both men battle to the brink of exhaustion. (19:10, VG)

14) Interview: Greg Gagne and Jim Brunzell. They are not happy that due to the result of the non-title match, they now have to put the titles on the line against The Sheiks. So much for favours to Wally Karbo… (AWA TV, VG)

15) Interview: Kaissie and Blackwell. They are predictably happy about getting a title match. (AWA TV, VG) (total time for these interviews is 3:55)

16) Greg Gagne & Jim Brunzell (AWA Tag Champs) vs. Sheiks Blackwell and Kaissie (3/82, Minneapolis). The Sheiks were about as hated a team as the AWA had ever seen. This match showed that they weren’t going to leave the title picture quietly. (12:30, VG with a bit lower sound).

Hulk Hogan, in the meantime, decided to take a different approach to getting a title shot: Beating up members of the Heenan Family two at a time!

17) Hulk Hogan vs. Ken Patera and Bobby Heenan (4/15/82, Winnipeg). 7:19, VG with some flash)

*****

Running time: Approximately 1 hour and 58 minutes.

DISC 2: April through May 1982

1) All Star Wrestling Intro (:45, EX-)

2) Interview: Bobby Heenan and Nick Bockwinkel. They are reacting to the ending of the February 6-man match where Heenan was destroyed by Hulk Hogan. Why/ Because Hulk Hogan was finally getting his title match, and they were not happy about that at all. (AWA TV, 8:30, G through VG+)

3) Interview: Hulk Hogan. He’s finally getting his title match against Nick Bockwinkel. (AWA TV, 1:30, G/VG)

4) Nick Bockwinkel (AWA Champion) vs. Hulk Hogan (4/18/82, St. Paul, Pro-shot raw footage shot from ringside). Heenan’s interference backfires and Hogan wins the AWA title...or does he? (14:20, VG)

5) Interview: Heenan, Bockwinkel, and Duncum. They are livid that Hogan was allowed to leave the ring with the title. (AWA TV)

6) Interview: Hulk Hogan. Hogan is angry that he had to give the title back, and starts talking about getting Bockwinkel and Heenan in a Handicap match. (AWA TV). Both Interviews run 3:35 and are VG.

On the same card, the feud between the High Flyers and Sheiks Blackwell and Kaissie had escalated to the point where they decided to try and settle their feud inside the steel cage:

7) Greg Gagne & Jim Brunzell (AWA Tag Champs) vs. Sheiks Blackwell and Kaissie (non-title cage match, 4/18/82, St. Paul. Pro-shot Raw Footage, shot from ringside). A violent affair with an even more violent and wild aftermath. (12:00, VG)

..In other AWA news, Buck Zumhofe had begun a spirited war of words with Sgt. Jacques Goulet. Buck had taken to calling Goulet “Pepe Le Pew” and taunting him with a big stuffed skunk:

8) Kenny Jay vs. Sgt. Jacques Goulet (AWA TV, 4/25/82, clips). Zumhofe comes to ringside twice to taunt Goulet, and ends up costing the Sargeant the match when being distracted by the big stuffed skunk allows Jay to roll him up for the pin! Huge upset. Goulet batters Zumhofe after the match. (3:00, VG)

9) Interview: Sgt. Jacques Goulet. Not a happy camper after losing on TV. (AWA TV, 1:00, VG)

We next found out that Hulk Hogan indeed got his wish: A Handicap match between himself, Bockwinkel, and Heenan.

10) Interview: Hulk Hogan. He talks about the upcoming Handicap match with Heenan and Bockwinkel. (AWA TV, VG)

11) Interview: Bockwinkel and Heenan. They also talk/complain about the upcoming Handicap encounter. (AWA TV, VG). Running time for these interviews is 4:35.

12) Hulk Hogan vs. Nick Bockwinkel and Bobby Heenan (5/2/82, Minneapolis). Fun match, although after coming so close to the title last time you’d have thought Hogan would want an immediate rematch instead. (17:30, VG+)

Goulet and Zumhofe finally were signed to take their verbal battle to the ring:

13) Interview: Buck Zumhofe, regarding the Goulet bout. (AWA TV, :45, VG)

14) Buck Zumhofe vs. Sgt. Jacques Goulet (5/23/82, St. Paul). 5:20, VG with lower sound.

After all the controversy surrounding the previous month’s cage battle, The Sheiks ended up getting another match with The High Flyers, this time a title affair:

15) Interview: Greg Gagne. Gagne notes that he and Jim Brunzell will be heading to Japan for a title tour after this bout with the Sheiks. His concern is that if the Sheiks win the title, they will take their place, defend the belts in Japan and then head to Iraq, never to return to the U.S. Gagne also notes some of the teams they have competed against recently. (AWA TV, 1:27, VG)

16) NEWS HIGHLIGHTS: High Flyers (AWA Tag Champs) vs. Sheiks Blackwell and Kaissie (5/23/82, St. Paul). It looks like the Sheiks are about to secure the victory, when to the High Flyers rescue, out of the crowd, comes Mad Dog Vachon. Somehow the Flyers ended up winning this one by DQ. (:40, VG)

17) Interview: Mad Dog Vachon. Gene Okerlund wants to know why Mad Dog chose this moment to re-appear in the Twin Cities, and what his plans are for the Sheiks. (AWA TV, 2:00, VG)

***

Running time: Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes

DISC 3: June through July 1982

1) All Star Wrestling Intro (:45, EX-)

In North America, a few AWA faces that had been spinning their wheels a bit engaged in some singles action against some old enemies:

1) Interview: Baron Von Raschke, talking about his upcoming bout with Ken Patera. (AWA TV, VG)

2) Interview: Ken Patera and Bobby Duncum, about their upcoming singles bouts with Raschke (Patera) and Tito Santana (Duncum) (AWA TV, VG). Run time for the above interviews is 3:10.

3) Bobby Duncum vs. Tito Santana (1982, Winnipeg). 6:50, VG with some picture flash.

4) Baron Von Raschke vs. Ken Patera (6/17/82, Winnipeg). 7:20, VG with some tracking and a bit of flash.

5) Greg Gagne & Jim Brunzell (AWA Tag Champs) vs. Rick Steamboat & Atushi Onita (6/8/82, Japan). As noted by Greg Gagne on the previous disc, the High Flyers were set for a tour of Japan in June of 1982. A solid match. (20:29, EX-)

Nick Bockwinkel probably wished he was touring Japan with the High Flyers, as he could not escape the title challenge of Hulk Hogan:

6) Nick Bockwinkel (AWA Champion) vs. Hulk Hogan (6/20/82, St. Paul). Preceded by a Hogan clip from Rocky III and a Bockwinkel-Heenan brief interview about the clip. Hogan snaps after the match and bearhugs Bockwinkel and Bobby Heenan simultaneously. Half the building tries to pull them apart. (6:30, VG/EX-)

With the High Flyers in Japan, The Sheiks split up for the St. Paul card so Blackwell could test himself in singles competition:

7) Jerry Blackwell vs. Ray Stevens (6/20/82, St. Paul). It must have been odd for the St. Paul crowd to cheer for Stevens, who had flip-flopped from face to heel in the AWA several times by now. Facing the hated Blackwell certainly helped, though. (11:50, VG)

Also of note on the 6/20/82 St. Paul card: Once again the hopes for a title shot for Ken Patera and Bobby Duncum were dashed when they lost a “#1 Contenders match” to Rick Martel and Tito Santana. Martel and Santana would receive a title shot on the July St. Paul card and the Black and Blue Express would have to wait a while longer.

Sheik Kaissie also spent some time in singles action during the Flyers Japan trip:

8) Rick Martel vs. Sheik Kaissie (7/15/82, Winnipeg). Martel was well on his way to establishing himself as a big AWA favourite by the time this bout took place. (4:37, VG)

Nick Bockwinkel took the AWA belt out on the road during the month of July. Calgary was one of the stops in his travels:

9) Nick Bockwinkel (AWA Champion) vs. Bret Hart (Calgary, July 1982). About 5 minutes of highlights, followed by interviews with Bockwinkel and his next challenger “Dr. D” David Schultz. (9:33, VG)

10) Nick Bockwinkel (AWA Champion) vs. David Schultz (non-title match, 7/16/82, Calgary). Followed by Interviews with Bockwinkel and Schultz. (8:45, VG)

With Bockwinkel out on tour, the AWA decided to have a Tag Team Spectacular for its St. Paul card in July.

11) Sgt. Jacques Goulet & Bobby Heenan vs. Buck Zumhofe & Brad Rheingans (7/18/82, St. Paul). Zumhofe gets his two biggest enemies at the time in the ring in one bout. (11:18, VG+)

12) Sheiks Kaissie & Blackwell vs. Spike Huber & Ray Stevens (7/18/82, St. Paul). You have to feel sorry for Stevens if Huber was the best surprise partner he could come up with to try and get revenge on the Sheiks from the previous month’s shenanigans. (5:21, VG-/VG)

13) Greg Gagne & Jim Brunzell (AWA Tag Champs) vs. Tito Santana & Rick Martel (7/18/82, St. Paul). The last 8 minutes are shown from what the announcers say is about a 28 minute match. Too bad. What we do see, however, is absolutely tremendous. (7:55, VG+/EX-).

Running time: Approximately 1 hour 45 minutes

DISC 4: August-October 1982

1) All Star Wrestling Intro (:40, EX-)

2) Rick Martel vs. Jim Brunzell (8/8/82, St. Paul). A scientific singles match in the wake of their epic tag match the month previous. (12:00, VG/VG+)

3) Hulk Hogan vs. Ken Patera in an Arm Wrestling contest (8/8/82, St. Paul). Jesse Ventura helps Patera and Heenan attack Hogan after the contest and injure the Hulk’s arm. Ray Stevens is the referee in this contest. 5:20, VG-/VG.

4) Otto Wanz debuts on AWA TV with a feat of strength: He rips apart several telephone books. The Heenan Family comes to ringside to watch and end up getting into it with Otto, who more than holds his own. (4:41, AWA TV, VG-/VG)

Shortly after this, Nick Bockwinkel agreed to put his title on the line against the big Austrian:

5) Nick Bockwinkel (AWA Champion) vs. Otto Wanz (8/29/82, St. Paul). Gigantic upset as Wanz becomes the new Champion! 16:13, VG/VG+

Bockwinkel regained his title in the first part of October in Chicago.

6) Greg Gagne & Jim Brunzell (AWA Tag Champs) vs. Tito Santana & Rick Martel (8/29/82, St. Paul). A great rematch from their July battle. 15:00, VG/VG+

7) $50,000 22-man Battleroyal (10/21/82, Winnipeg). The Winner gets a title shot at Nick Bockwinkel on the November card. 24:30, EX-

*******

Running Time: 1 hour 17 minutes

DISC 5: September-November 1982

1) All Star Wrestling Intro (:40, EX-)

2) Adrian Adonis vs. Larry Hennig (9/19/82, St. Paul): Adonis returns to the AWA as a singles wrestler. (5:04, VG)

3) Hulk Hogan vs. Adrian Adonis (10/17/82, St. Paul): Hogan returns from his arm injury at the hands of Ken Patera and Jesse Ventura back n August. (14:15, VG)

4) Andre the Giant & Buck Zumhofe vs. Ken Patera & Bobby Heenan (10/17/82, St. Paul): Zumhofe and Heenan had an on-off feud for a large portion of the early 80’s. In this bout, Buck tagged with Andre still looking for revenge for having his boom-box smashed on TV nearly a year before. (5:01, VG+/EX-)

One of the staples of the AWA was the annual Fall Battleroyal series. On the previous volume we saw one from Winnipeg. This one, from St. Paul, ended up being more significant than most.

5) 20-Man, $50,000 Battleroyal (10/17/82, St. Paul JIP with ten men remaining): The winner also gets a title shot against AWA Champion Nick Bockwinkel on the next card. (6:20, VG with low sound. A shorter version (3:20) with better sound is included immediately after the longer version).

Hulk Hogan, winner of the Battleroyal, found himself quadruple-teamed after the match by the Heenan family. Andre the Giant made the save.

6) Interview: Hulk Hogan and Wally Karbo. Hogan is so incensed that he declines the title shot on the next card in favour of taking on Patera, Duncum, Bockwinkel and Heenan all by himself. Karbo agrees to the request, but insists Hogan pick a partner.

7) Interview: Hulk Hogan. Hogan makes his choice for a partner in the 4-on-2 match: Andre the Giant.

8) Interview: The Heenan Family, immediately after finding out they would be facing Hogan and Andre in a handicap match on the next card. (The three interviews total 3:15, VG+).

9) Handicap match: Bobby Duncum, Ken Patera, Nick Bockwinkel & Bobby Heenan vs. Andre the Giant & Hulk Hogan (11/7/82, St. Paul): Some revenge for the Hulk. Meanwhile, he would now have to wait for his promised title shot for some time… (8:40, VG+)

Nick Bockwinkel also continued to be active as AWA Champion in bouts outside of the regular AWA circuit. One of his more frequent stops was in Memphis.

10) Nick Bockwinkel (AWA Champion) vs. Jerry Lawler (10/25/82, Memphis). One of many really good matches between the two over the years. (, 22:14 of 32:00 shown, VG+)

11) Adrian Adonis vs. Greg Gagne (11/7/82, St. Paul, JIP). Adonis continues his AWA Singles comeback as Greg takes a break from defending the AWA tag belts. Adonis would depart from the area soon after. (7:31, VG)

Mad Dog Vachon made a triumphant return to St. Paul back in May, saving the High Flyers from the Sheiks. Months later, he re-starts his feud with Jerry Blackwell again in earnest.

12) Interview: Mad Dog Vachon. Vachon wants revenge against Blackwell for injuring him two years earlier. (1:00, VG)

13) Mad Dog Vachon & Steve O vs. Sheiks Blackwell & Kaissie (11/7/82, St. Paul, JIP). Steve O is coming back from a wrist injury that hasn’t quite healed and the Sheiks take advantage of it. This doesn’t stop Vachon from administering a tremendous beatdown to the Sheiks, much to the delight of the crowd. (9:30, VG)

14) Extended end clip of the match above, segueing into a Mad Dog Vachon interview about the previous match. The interview was actually part of a promo for a Milwaukee bout between Vachon and his partner, Verne Gagne, against the Sheiks. Gagne made many comebacks in different markets throughout the 80’s—comebacks that were only promoted in the areas of the match. (3:00, G—fuzzy picture)

Running time: Approximately 90 minutes.

DISC 6: November-December 1982

1) Intro (:45, EX-)

2) Nick Bockwinkel (AWA Champion) vs. Andre the Giant (11/10/82, Winnipeg): Larry Hennig is the referee. Andre gets the title shot he was promised as the winner of the October Winnipeg Battleroyal. (6:35, VG/VG+)

3) Greg Gagne & Jim Brunzell (AWA Tag Champs) vs. Ken Patera & Bobby Duncum (11/10/82, Winnipeg): The Flyers defend against one of their more persistent challengers of 1982. (16:00, VG+)

The Sheiks, meanwhile, were getting impatient for another title shot.

4) Interview: Sheiks Kaissie and Blackwell. The Sheiks vow to do whatever it takes to get Wally Karbo to grant them the title shot they feel that they deserve. (1:46, VG)

5) Sheiks Blackwell & Kaissie vs. Buddy Lane & Brad Rheingans (end clip, AWA TV, 11/21/82). After dropping the first fall, the Sheiks work over Lane and refuse to pin him, until they get disqualified. Referee Kenny Jay, Rheingans, and several preliminary wrestlers try to stop them from inflicting more punishment to Lane without success. Greg Gagne comes in and clears the ring until Kaissie attacks him with a foreign object. Blackwell proceeds to powerslam and splash Gagne on the concrete, putting him out of action. (5:35, VG)

The High Flyers were scheduled to defend the tag belts on the 11/25 Civic Center card, but could not do so because of Gagne’s injury. Instead of forfeiting the title, Brunzell was allowed to choose another partner for the match. He chose the arch-enemy of the Sheiks, Mad Dog Vachon.

6) Jim Brunzell & Mad Dog Vachon vs. Sheiks Kaissie and Blackwell (11/25/82, St. Paul). Vachon and Brunzell are far more concerned with inflicting punishment than winning the match. (7:28, VG)

Nick Bockwinkel continued to be active against a variety of challengers. His latest nemesis was an up-and-comer named Rick Martel.

7) Nick Bockwinkel (AWA Champion) vs. Rick Martel (end clips, 11/25/82, St. Paul). Martel had scored a non-title win a few months previous to earn his chance at the title. (1:30, VG)

Greg Gagne’s ribs healed well enough to be available to defend the tag titles on the Christmas spectacular in St. Paul:

8) Greg Gagne & Jim Brunzell (AWA Tag Champs) vs. Sheiks Blackwell & Kaissie (12/25/82, St. Paul): Curt Hennig is the referee. The Sheiks appear to have won the tag titles until another referee gets the decision reversed. The Sheiks continue their assault until Verne Gagne makes the save. (9:47, VG+)

Hulk Hogan, still waiting for another title chance after forgoing his shot in November for revenge against the Heenan Family, was given the opportunity to get more revenge against one of the wrestlers responsible for injuring his arm in August: Jesse “The Body” Ventura.

9) Hulk Hogan vs. Jesse Ventura (12/25/82, St. Paul): Ventura dominates almost the entire bout as Hogan can’t get it going on this night. (16:27, EX-)

Nick Bockwinkel made another stop in Memphis during the Holiday season to take on a familiar opponent…

10) Nick Bockwinkel (AWA Champion) vs. Jerry Lawler (12/27/82, end clip, Memphis): Lawler leaves the ring with the title despite Bockwinkel being pinned with his feet on the ropes. A long Bockwinkel interview at ringside after this bout has him lamenting this fact. (4:35, VG)

As a result of the match above, the AWA title was held up in Memphis until a rematch could occur in early January between Bockwinkel and Lawler. The rest of the AWA saw Bockwinkel continue as Champion.

11) Greg Gagne & Jim Brunzell (AWA Tag Champs) vs. Jimmy Doo & Curtis Dean (AWA TV, early 1983). Prior to the bout, Gagne and Brunzell are presented with the PWI Tag Team of the Year Award from matchmaker Wally Karbo. (5:50, VG)

12) Interview: Bobby Heenan. A classic Heenan rant about being called “Weasel” everywhere he goes and how he’s sick of it. (1:12, VG)

Running Time: 1 hour 15 minutes.

DISC 7: Additional Mixed Material

1) Intro (:35, VG)

Part 1: Other Wrestlers

**Some of the other wrestlers that appeared in the AWA in 1982.

2) Evan Johnson vs. Sonny Rogers (AWA TV, 3/82). Johnson was a former Olympian that never quite caught on as a pro. He also doubled as a referee. He wrestled in various opening bouts on many AWA cards in 1982 but never moved past that level or got a program of his own. (3:39, VG)

3) Pat Patterson vs. Herman Schaefer (AWA TV, clips, 4/82). Patterson was in and out of the AWA in the middle of the year, both as a singles wrestler and in a team with Ray Stevens. (1:42, VG)

4) Pat O’Connor vs. Bobby Duncum (5/23/82, St. Paul). O’Connor appeared a few times in 1982 after he had officially retired from competition. No idea if he was doing it as a fill-in or if Verne actually brought him in for the odd bout for whatever reason. He was a shell of his former self at this point. (3:20, VG)

5) Interview: “Terrible” Tom Lintz. Lintz would be in and out of the AWA for many years and had his greatest success as Ali Khan in 1986. He appears to be brand new to the AWA at this point. (1:00, VG)

Part 2: Bockwinkel On Tour

**Nick Bockwinkel defended the AWA title a lot outside of the AWA throughout his tenure as Champion. Here is a sampling of some of those defenses.

6) Nick Bockwinkel (AWA Champion) vs. Tom Pritchard (Southwest TV, 7/82). Pritchard is pretty green here but gives Bockwinkel a good bout. (7:50, VG)

7) Nick Bockwinkel (AWA Champion) vs. Manny Fernandez (Southwest TV, 1982). Fernandez seems to be a late substitution in this match. (7:30, VG)

8) Nick Bockwinkel (AWA Champion) vs. Jerry Lawler (San Antonio, 11/82). The feud with “The King” continues. (5:03, VG)

9) Interview: Nick Bockwinkel (December 1982, Southwest TV). This is in regard to the controversial ending of the Lawler match. (2:10, VG)

Part 3: Alternate Angles and Missing Matches

**A few of these appeared in the main Review with different camera angles, and a few are random matches from 1982 that did not make the main Review.

10) Greg Gagne & Jim Brunzell (AWA Tag Champs) vs. Sheiks Blackwell and Kaissie (Cage match, 4/18/82 St. Paul). This is the TV Version with Commentary. (5:30, VG)

11) Nick Bockwinkel (AWA Champion) vs. Hulk Hogan (4/18/82, St. Paul). This is the TV version with Commentary by Lee Marshall. (15:05, VG+)

12) Jerry Blackwell vs. Greg Gagne (5/13/82, Winnipeg). Gagne has to contend with Sheik Kaissie as well. (7:02, VG)

13) Buck Zumhofe vs. Sgt. Jacques Goulet (5/23/82, St. Paul). A second chapter in their feud. (5:30, VG)

14) Ray Stevens vs. Jerry Blackwell (7/15/82, Winnipeg). Same ending as their St. Paul match from Disc 3. (6:10, VG, some tracking issues)

Part 4: Random Interviews

**Interviews that didn’t fit with any matches or angles in the main set.

15) Interviews: Tito Santana, Ken Patera & Bobby Heenan, Heenan & Bobby Duncum, Hulk Hogan, Sheiks Kaissie & Blackwell, Rick Morton, Bockwinkel & Heenan, Sheiks Kaissie & Blackwell, Steve O & Rick Martel, Nick Bockwinkel & Bobby Heenan. (13:04, VG)

16: A News Report on Hulk Hogan with several clips of a handicap match he had vs. Nick Bockwinkel & Bobby Heenan included. (1:40, VG)

Total Running Time: 90 minutes

DISC 8: More Bonus Material1) Nick Bockwinkel (AWA Champion) vs. Mil Mascaras (Early 1982, Japan, highlights)

2) Nick Bockwinkel (AWA Champion) vs. Otto Wanz (8/29/82, St. Paul, shorter version from WWE 24/7)
