Rick Rude vs. Hacksaw Duggan (SNME 5/27/89)

Holy hell Duggan is over. Rude is a bumping machine early. Awesome clotheslines by Duggan. TREMENDOUS piledriver by Duggan but Rude gets his foot on the rope. GREAT early false finish. Rude takes over & does a dropkick! I didn’t expect that! Rude with a nasty forearm X chinlock that doesn’t last too long & just looks painful. Duggan fights out but Rude gets him down on the mat. Top rope fist drop & a kiss to the camera. The crowd is insanely hot for this. Duggan comes back with some great punches. Rude with an amazing back body drop bump. Duggan sets up the three point stance. HE FUCKING MURDERS RUDE WITH A LARIAT THROUGH THE ROPES!!! FUCK!!!! Rude is stunned out of his mind. The crowd is chanting along to the 10 count as Duggan wins to a thunderous pop. Good lord. The Title can’t change hands on a count-out but Duggan & the fans don’t give a shit. Duggan celebrates with the flag as the fans go nuts. If this is two to three more minutes with hot action it’s a possible Slam Dunk & definite Easy nom. As it is, it’s absolutely worthwhile in every way & could easily make this set. 

STRONG NOMINATION 
 

I did not think this was a strong nomination. I thought Rude ramming it up for the camera and selling was tremendous. I liked the early piledriver spot but there were a couple of things hurting it in my view. The 1st transition for Rude to control was a headbutt to the gut right after the big running knee. The kick out wasnt really a nearfall and Rude takes right over. Then Rude does a top rope diving knee and not really put over as a killer. Huge mistake there for a nice move. The 2nd time Rude took over, he raked the eyes when Duggan came in. Im sort of over the eye rake as the transition. Especially when a knee lift with Duggqn going through the ropes was right there. The big clothesline countout was acceptable amd looked good. I am thinking closer to a middle-solid nomination.
