Posted December 11, 200718 yr comment_5425077 Roddy Piper & Rick Martel vs. Luke Williams & Butch Miller (2/3 Falls) (5/3/80) - Pretty cool tag as Martel and Piper inspire the Andersons and destroy Luke's arm. Miller gets the tag but the ref doesn't see it so Williams is eventually put away in the first fall. 2nd fall has MArtel playing FIP after the Sheeps regaining control and never able to tag Piper so he evntually does the job after a vicious back elbow. 3rd fall starts where the 2nd one left off but this time Piper gets the hot tag and cleans house. After Piper shows some spirit, he eventually plays FIP. THe Sheeps do an assisted backbreaker where Butch drops Piper on Luke's knee. That looked pretty cool. A double pin end s the match in controversy but this was one hell of a tag. Definite nomination. (Lynch Vol. 1)
August 28, 200817 yr comment_5434276 Here we go again. Piper is running ropes again in this, with great coordination too! I'm shocked. Sheeps bump BIGTIME for Roddy, really establishing him as someone not to f with. GOD, this was unique.. Martel and Piper work Williams arm. Continue to do so. Do more stuff to the arm... Piper cranks on a seated hammerlock... and WILLIAMS quits! Holy shit... THAT is how you establish holds and get submissions over. I wish wrestling today did more 2/3 matches, as you can use them to get shit over easier. I actually can't recall any tag outside Anderson family squashes that had such a smart and obvious finish after armwork. Second fall has heat on Martel and Sheeps winning with a sloppy jumping elbow from Butch. Double tackle leads to Martel getting the bigtime tag to Roddy, who is a house of fire and a half and cleans house on everyone. It slows down and get kinda bad, as some of Piper's offense just looks so shitty. I like Piper's selling, love him fired up, and he's a great heel, but his babyface offense often left alot to be desired. Ok.. hottag to Martel.. NOW we are talking. Throws Sheeps all around. Piper also makes a comeback. Piper gets piledriven and pinned as Martel pins the other Sheep. Confusion reigns! I figured they'd def give the Sheeps a win, but no, Sandy Barr is out and declares the match a tie and says BOTH TEAMS won, belts are held up... till next time. Martel's promos suck! lol I'd nominate this. Good story and the finish to the first fall alone would have me look positively on this. HELMET... I just noticed that you reviewed this same tag match at the very bottom of the page. If you could move this under your comments, that'd be great. I'll try to keep better track on what's been reviewed and what hasn't, but I'm currently going through the lynch disks you sent me. Thanks.
August 29, 200817 yr Author comment_5434278 Rob I'll fix it but let me help you out here. The best way to keep track is to review a disc in its enirity and post your thoughts in the tape discussion. After that, if you second a nomination, copy your thoughts and post them under mine. If you nominate a match I did not, then you can create the thread. It has worked out great with all the other categories and really is the best way to keep track of all the matches.
March 26, 201115 yr comment_5468329 The first fall was interesting, with Piper and Martel essentially working like heels. They kept cutting off the ring and changing places without tagging while the ref's back was turned. The fans loved them anyway, of course. I've found the Sheepherders' control segments a little dull, but to their credit, they finished Martel off in nasty fashion to even it up. I didn't love the double-pin, confused-ref ending, but they executed it well enough. Nomination.
