One match however is Shogun + Samurai v. Mason Dixon Connection Man was this fun. Samurai is Shinya Hashimoto and he was so much fun even this early in his career. Tracy Smothers was the star in this, as he is just flying all over the ring, wrecking people with superkicks and dropkicks. The interactions between him and Hashimoto rule, including them doing a points karate spot.
May 9, 200817 yr comment_5431196 Fuller & Dutch come out with Jeff Jarrett bounty posters that Sylvia hands out to the crowd then introduces Action Jackson as the newest member of the Stud Stable. Next we get a Mason-Dixon Connection video then a promo. The Mason-Dixon Connection (John Paul & Tracy Smothers) vs. The Delta Force (Colonel Claymore & Sergeant Brock) (3/18/89) Squash. Action Jackson & Robert Fuller vs. Randy Greenway & Mike Hart (3/18/89) Squash. Jed Grundy vs. Mike Somani (3/18/89) Squash. Fuller then comes out trying to bribe Jed Grundy to take up the bounty on Jarrett but doesn’t give an answer. Master of Pain vs. Hal Hooper (3/18/89) Squash and after the match there is a fun brawl with Dutch/MOP vs. Lawler. Bounty Match: Jeff Jarrett vs. Brodie Chase (3/18/89) Brodie gets offense but Jarrett finishes him easily. Grundy jumps in the ring after the match takes off the ring that Robert Fuller gave him and gives it to Jeff but Jarrett tells him to keep it much to the chagrin of Fuller. The Studs then beat on Chase for losing but Grundy makes the save then gets overpowered but Jarrett comes back and cleans house. Jarrett then gets overpowered until the Mason-Dixon Connection makes the save. Fun stuff. Then we get dueling promos from Jarrett/Mason-Dixon and the Stud Stable. Frankie “The Thumper” Lancaster vs. The Shadow (3/18/89) Tojo’s crew jumps Lancaster for the DQ but Frankie eases out of the ring. “Dirty” Dutch Mantell vs. Chris Frazier (3/25/89) Squash. Fuller introduces Master of Pain as the newest member of the Stud Stable after the match. Then we get a taped promo with Jeff Jarrett & Randy Hales riding the roads. Brian Lee & Wrestling Machine #1 vs. Rough & Ready (3/25/89) Squash. Fuller then offers Lee & Machine a spot in the bounty hunt on Jarrett but they turn him down. Master of Pain vs. Rodney Napper (3/25/89) Squash. Next we get clips of Lawler/MOP from MSC on 3/20/89. Then Lawler brings out Lord Humongous (Sid Vicious) to counter MOP. Too bad Sid didn’t shave his head. Then we get a video of Jeff Jarrett to Simply Irresistible by Robert Palmer. Robert Fuller & Action Jackson vs. Jed Grundy & Jungle Jim McPherson (3/25/89) Pretty much a squash then they hogtie Grundy. CWA Tag Titles: The Mason-Dixon Connection (John Paul & Tracy Smothers) © vs. Samurai (Shinji Sasazaki) & Shogun (Shinya Hashimoto) (3/25/89) Hashimoto is so fucking great here and you could tell from watching his Memphis run that he had what it took to become a major star. Smothers looked great too and the interaction with Hash was great because they had experience facing each other in New Japan in 1988. John Paul would play FIP and took a beating from the Japanese who were a pretty damn good team. Tracy makes the hot tag and would hit a sweet back kick on Sasazaki to get the win. This should move forward.
