All Japan Classics 197

Dick Slater & Joel Deaton vs. Ken Shamrock & Joe Malenko (10/28/89)

- This one is clipped. Deaotn gets the pin after an assisted splash onto Shamrock.

Stan Hansen & Toshiaki Kawada vs. Yoshiaki Yatsu & Shunji Takano (10/11/89)

- Man, these guys have the eneergy but this was sloppy and disjointed early on. Too many great tags to pu this one through.

Toshiaki Kawada/Genichiro Tenryu/Samson Fuyuki vs. Giant Baba/Great Kabuki/Shinichi Nakano (10/28/89)

- THe heels have their way with Nakano when he is in the ring but when Baba comes in, he stays in control. THis wasn't a bad 6-man but not one that I feel should move on either. Tenryu eventually pins Nakano with the powerbomb

Abdullah the Butcher & Tiger Jeet Singh vs. Jumbo Tsuruta & Shunji Takano (10/28/89)

- No

All Japan Classics 197

1. Dick Slater & Joel Deaton vs. Ken Shamrock & Joe Malenko (10/28/89, 8:57, clipped)

I really dig the Deaton/Slater team and they had some nice looking stuff here. But, Shamrock is green as grass and doesn’t know how to sell a good beating, and Malenko doesn’t get too involved. Deaton had some great corner clotheslines.

2. Stan Hansen & Toshiaki Kawada vs. Yoshiaki Yatsu & Shunji Takano (10/11/89, 11:56)

Not bad by any means, but a little too disjointed. Hansen was great here, stomping Takano’s knee to bits and nailing the lariat. Takano sold the knee really well, nothing was really bad about this. There wasn’t enough awesome for me to nominate.

3. Toshiaki Kawada/Genichiro Tenryu/Samson Fuyuki vs. Giant Baba/Great Kabuki/Shinichi Nakano (10/28/89, 17:25)

I personally thought this was a super fun 6 man and everybody had a chance to do cool stuff. Kabuki looked like an absolute KING in this, throwing tons of his great uppercuts and some nice body shots. His exchanges with Tenryu were completely rad and Tenryu with Baba were also awesome. Nakano got beat up a bunch (which made me wonder why Kabuki and Baba would tag him back in) and there were some great moments. Tenryu walking right in and slapping Baba, Kabuki uppercutting every member of the other team in a row, this was just a bunch of fun. NOMINATE!

4. Abdullah the Butcher & Tiger Jeet Singh vs. Jumbo Tsuruta & Shunji Takano (10/28/89, 8:19, DQ)

This wasn’t bad, but man Takano didn’t look that great and his kicks just looked like garbage. About what you’d expect here.

"Outlaw" Joel Deaton & "Mr. Unpredictable" Dick Slater vs. Joe Malenko & Ken Shamrock (10/28/89)

This was clipped and okay for what it was.

Stan "The Lariat" Hansen & Toshiaki Kawada vs. Shunji Takano & Yoshiaki Yatsu (10/11/89)

This was a decent match nothing more nothing less.

Revolution (Ricky Fuyuki, Toshiaki Kawada, & Genichiro Tenryu) vs. Giant Baba, The Great Kabuki, & Shinichi Nakano (10/28/89)

This was a good match and it was fun watching Baba work against the current main heels which he wasn't doing a whole lot at this time and he wasn't horrible. The Baba/Tenryu exchanges made the match fun but it wasn't enough to warrant a nomination.

Shunji Takano & Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Abdullah the Butcher & Tiger Jeet Singh (10/28/89)

About what you would expect.
